just had a pair of my vintage cowboy boots resoled and shaped up. This place is fantastic! The boots look brand new (well as "brand new" as vintage stuff can look) and the quality of the work is spot on. If you are wondering where to take your shoes or boots for resoling, go here. Great work. Great price. And nice people.

Jimmy is the best. He is honest and will tell you straight up what can and cannot be done. He tightened a pair of my favorite black boots (around the lower leg) and they look incredible. For the work he does the prices are not nearly as bad as I expected. They actually pay you attention here and don't give you a snotty NY attitude like you are lucky to be in their presence. Only cons are that its usually busy, but this is New York- get used to it!

Pros: GREAT repair! 'nuff said!

Cons: always busy, small shop

Had 4 pairs of shoes repiared there in the past two months, each requiring either repair by a different shop or being redone by them. Frustrating to say the least, as they are NOT cheap. I had the front tips and back heels replaced (just the little black piece on the bottom) on all four pairs. The heels they used wore down to the nailhead in 3 wearings and one pair of heels had the front tips so badly glued back that they caught on every carpet wore them on. After one wearing at my carpeted office, I took them back and insisted they be glued and fixed properly. This is basic shoe repair I asked for. Returning to an out of the way cobbler to avoid the high prices and shoddy work at Jim's. They might be good for a shine, but simple shoe repair is not work the price.

Pros: convenient midtown location

Cons: high prices; bad quality work

This place is tops. They will shine your shoes while you wait and watch tv. Save yourself the aggrivation of other schlockhouse shoeshines and head straight to Jim's.

Pros: Everything

Cons: Nothing

Everthing was great until I got my shoes back and they were repaired with a textured leather of a color that didn't match, rather than a smooth one. I was under the impression that the new leather would match; in the very least, it shouldn't have been textured- the look of the shoe was totally changed by it. Never in my life have I been treated so rudely as a customer. If you go here and aren't satisfied, don't even think about speaking up- the impression I was left with is that the customer is always wrong.

Pros: They can fix most anything

Cons: Customer is always wrong.

I had brought Jim a pair of mangled heels, chewed on by my very hyper pitbull mix!!! To my surprise not only did he bring these back to life, you can't even tell where my dog mangled the heel!!!! It's a miracle! I am a devoted customer for life! It can't get better than this, especially for a dog owner who loves shoes!!!!!! If no one else can fix it, Jim can!!!

Pros: He's the best

Cons: you gotta take yourself to the upper east side!

The title says it all - you won't believe that the shoes you pick up were the old ones you brought in.
