The best video store in New York City and maybe in the entire country, or even the world. No, I'm not exaggerating! Over 20,000 titles, friendly and super-knowledgeable staff, and they order everything for their stock of DVDs and VHS -- I mean EVERYthing. They've been around forever at this location (since early 1987 I think), which is not easy in their neighborhood; I don't even think Blockbuster managed to survive there. So you KNOW that N.Y. Video has the goods! (1st-time message.)
Pros: Huge selection, attentive staff, good atmosphere.

Terriffic store! They've really got it all. Really great rental specials (most notably the two-for-one tuesdays) keep me coming back. The knowledgeable staff are extremely helpful when it comes to finding that movie with that one guy who was in that thing with that actress that time. Definitely the best store in the neighborhood, if not the entire city.

Just wanted to say this must be the best damn video store in the whole world. I was stunned at the selection of films this store holds. Not only the obvious new releases but stuff I've never seen in any video store anywhere. They definately have the best selection of classic Hollywood films and foreign films of any video store I've ever been in. This place has to be the best kept secret in NYC. I wouldn't have even known about it if a friend hadn't told me it existed when I was once again complaining about how Blockbuster stinks. Maybe because it's not located in a "cool" neighborhood it gets no attention. I've certainly never seen it written about in the Voice or Time Out New York. Film lovers should definately check this place out!
