Great Place to go to everyday wowwww

by Lucia Martinez

Well, just by the appearance the first day that I went as a visitor made me want to joint the club immediately.

  • Pros: Clean and organize

disappointing

by yoursinchrist

I was a member a few years ago and returned recently. The club is sad now; moldy showers, tattered carpets and unfriendly.

Equinox is much better and costs less.

  • Pros: almost as good as Equinox
  • Cons: dirty and decayed

Dirty, Rude, Completely Lost its appeal.

by fivestarlife

All the way up the the managers. Supposed managers. One day its he, no she, no one seems to really manage this place. Thats the problem. There are things going on in the mens steam and sauna, and the womens sauna and steam is loaded in unclean old feeling of no one cares anymore. This place used to feel fun, happy, and I loved going. Now its gloom and doom. No one has manners, professionalism, and the place feels old. It is not sanitary. Im going to Equinox now where it is spotless and you can feel it. They are cleaning constantly in there, and they are having fun 'WITH' the customers, not looking atthem like "what?" Too bad reebok was known as the best in its kind. THEY NEED NEW MANAGEMENT. There are a few male managers, who look like they want to drop kick you .

  • Pros: Nice cafe, lots of space, outdoor deck.
  • Cons: Staff snotty, snobby(for no reason), rude , unprofessional

Not impressed

by janna19

I did a temporary membership to try this gym out and see if it was worth $200 a month . The gym is ok - the equipment is pretty dated, the locker rooms are nice, having a pool is great. However, I left something at the gym and just called Lost & Found and can't get over the rudeness of the person I talked to. She would ask me a question, then put me on hold without even responding to me. The kicker was that when I told her I was pretty sure I left it there, she didn't say a word back. And then I said "thanks" and she just hung up the phone without even saying goodbye or anything in return. I was completely nice the entire conversation, it was so weird that she was so rude.

  • Pros: Lots of classes, pool
  • Cons: Rude service

Where/How Can I Get A One-Week Guest Pass to Reebok NYC?

by pwr2brn

I already have one pass but I need another so that my fiancee can try the gym out with me...anyone know where I can get one for August?

  • Pros: Seemed luxurious when I walked in with a friend/member
  • Cons: Just from what I've seen - snobby personnel

Agree with other negative reviews

by pearlypg

I joined the club after reading rave reviews. 75% of the initiation fee was waved through a promo so it was compelling for me to try. I am deeply disappointed with the gym. The classes are good and numerous, but they are not excellent. I agree with the reviewer who said that the showers are old and filthy. Accommodating and friendly staff? I have yet to see that. Snobbish yoga instructors who help only those they want to. The yoga is done extremely fast regardless of who can catch up. This is NOT the way to do yoga. I learned all types of yoga for one year in India, and the key is to do it slowly and give time to do each pose correctly for maximum impact. I was shocked to see how fast one yoga instructor was with poses - not good at all.

I got two sessions with a private instructor. They made it seem like they looked at my profile and matched me with the right instructor. I think the instructor they assigned to me did not have as many clients because he was new to NY, and so I was another potential client. The guy would not stop talking about how he trained beautiful people in Hollywood and so would train me to fitness. I barely did any workout with him.

When you spend $$$$ you expect convenience. Nothing is convenient about the gym. The big bucks are for the classes which you can find in any other gym. The lockers are tiny, and if you want to leave anything permanently, you have to pay $800 per year for a VERY tiny locker. Honestly I expected them to provide permanent lockers at least so that you don't have to carry a big bag around.

The $$$$ I spent are not worth it, but I am locked in due to the high initiation fee. I hope to get my money's worth by working out everyday. Unless you are living in the area, I highly suggest taking your money elsewhere.

  • Pros: Several classes, spacious
  • Cons: Everything else

The worst yoga program in Manhattan

by MyAngel66

I joined this place exclusively for its yoga program and the new mind-body studio. Unfortunately, after being a member for one year, I decided to cancel my membership due to the poorly managed yoga program. It is clear that only certain instructors are being favored and they only listen to certain type of members. The classes have no spiritual element and most classes are taught by instructors who only care about how beautiful they look doing the poses and don't even bother correcting the people in class. When I spoke to the yoga program coordinator, all she had to say was that I probably was in the wrong place, that Reebok is a health club and not a yoga studio. She is probably right - don't join if what you are looking for are high-quality yoga classes!

  • Pros: large yoga room
  • Cons: bad yoga program

Don't let the smiles fool you - the club is old and filthy!

by LCohen1968

I have been a guest at this club multiple times and after my recent last visit I found out it is nothing like what it used to be several years ago! Yes, they still greet you with a smile every time, but that doesn't make up for the fact that the facility is falling apart - you can tell by the poor condition of the equipment used in the classes (I took a step class and almost fell because the steps are worn out and don't stay put on the floor anymore!) The bathrooms look and smell like those in a bad-neighborhood public high school - splashed with water all over the sink, un-flushed, stinky toilets and no toilet paper. At well over $200/month and the outrageous $1000+ initiation fee, you expect the "five-star" service they claim to provide, yet, what you get is well below what you expect. It's a shame that what used be the best club in NYC has now turned into an old, filthy club that is poorly maintained and falling apart, but the price remains just as expensive. If you are thinking about joining, I suggest you shop around other clubs first - there are newer, cleaner clubs in the surrounding areas that don't charge as much and provide a real first-quality service and facility.

  • Pros: Big club with lots of activities to do
  • Cons: Filthy club, old equipment, horrible bathrooms

best customer service

by vas06d

I just want everyone who likes 5 star service to know that it still exists on the Upper West Side. I just moved from Florida and have recently joined the Reebok Sports Club in NY. It is AMAZING! From the greeting smiles to the personal attention, I find that each visit is like a little hotel stay!

The club is so abuzz with life, and there's never a wait for machines and equipment. I love that!! Also, I think there's like 100 exercise classes to choose from!

The best part of the club to me is that by the end of my first week there, staff members were calling me by my first name. I think that speaks volumes for this place...

Remarkable Reebok

by cap24

I joined Reebok since i have some friends there, and heard all about the new Mind Body and Yoga Center. The club is beautiful and the machines and trainers are great, but the Center is amazing. The classes are challenging and the staff there are just so warm, friendly and accomodating. There are not enough great things i can say, its not just a gym it really is like a 5 star hotel

  • Pros: Great service, top notch machines, incredable talented trainers, challenging classes
  • Cons: none
