one of my favorites

by stardazedNYC

i don't know what the other reviewers are talking about! i've been coming here for years and i've never been disappointed!

sure you can find better Mexican food elsewhere, but for the location, quick service and moderate prices, i come here.

i took my boyfriend here for the first time a few years ago and he can be extremely picky about his food, but this quickly became one of his favorites too! his chicken burrito was served hot and tender and his water glass was filled promptly- just the way he likes it!

my favorites are the house salad and shrimp enchilada- a whole juicy shrimp in every bite!

try it. if you hate it, then it'll just be another restaurant on your list never to go to ever again (and we all have those).

Hopeless - better off with street meat...

by jtewlow

Harry's is very hit or miss on their food (and they miss bad frequently). It is very poor value. It doesn't pretend to be authentic Mexican -- if you want that on the UWS, go to the Super Taco truck on 96th and Bway. Harry's delivery service is utterly hopeless. We've ordered from there (shows how dumb we are) 8 times in the last yr and they've fouled up the order 50% of the time in some way, but tonite literally took the cake -- screwed up 3 of 4 dishes and left the drinks out and then it took me 15 minutes on the phone to fix it with them. And the soup was so awful it was inedible.

  • Pros: Hit or Miss Food
  • Cons: Expensive for the mediocre food; delivery service is patheti

You Get What You Pay For

by ilovesoup

You can go a few blocks and get better Mexican food at Chipotle. Or go literally around the corner to Santa Fe for better food and much better drinks. Harry's is alright if you're just looking for something cheap, although all the times I've been there I always end up waiting for what seems like an impossibly long time for my food to arrive. And when it does, it's always just OK. I keep going back because it's really cheap, but you get what you pay for I guess. The people who work there are really nice, and they have outdoor seating, but those are the only positive things about this place.

  • Pros: Cheap, patio seating
  • Cons: Bad margaritas, slow service

spoiled food

by HillMary

I had an enchilada and the salsa fresca with chips. Both dishes tasted spoiled! I hope I'm not sick in the morning!

4 stars for what it is

by fbmyeager

After reading some older reviews of this place, I am glad to see that they clearly made an effort to beef-up the service. I have been here twice, and the service was quick, friendly, and perfectly on point. We were not rushed, but were able to get the check and leave as soon as we were ready. The menu is pretty inclusive, I'm a vegan and their are several items I can order without fuss. There is a whole vegetarian section, and even a non-dairy burrito! I haven't had the drinks, but my boyfriend really enjoyed the frozen margaritas. With chips and salsa, 2 entrees and 2 drinks are bill was barely $30! The food is good, not great, but if you want something simple, fresh and satisfying it fits the bill at a great price. The place is noisy and at dinner time crowded. It's not an intimate or romantic atmosphere, but great for groups or people trying to grab a quick casual bite.

  • Pros: Service, price
  • Cons: crammed atmosphere, noisy

Worst chips and salsa in NYC, rest is just as bad

by nycdogowner

Boring, bland, tired. I have had better chips and salsa from 7-Eleven - honestly. My burrito was soaking wet with some... thing. Not sure what. The bottom fell off after my first bite, so I had to use a fork and knife to rescue the rest from the pool of "burrito juice" in my plate. What a waste of a perfect location.

  • Pros: Location is great
  • Cons: Terrible food

Awesome Happy Hours ---- Subpar food.

by mxtarantino

I love to come here and drink. The drinks are really cheap. However, the burrito was ok. There wasn't anything special about it---which is fine. However, the prices are ridulous. Oh. The staff are awesome. Travis the bartender is awesome!

  • Pros: drinks
  • Cons: price of food

A pleasant surprise

by alfrompa

After reading some of the reviews here, I was a little apprehensive about going here with friends, but they had set it up and I figured, what the hey, it couldn't be all that bad to still be in business.

I was greatly surprised by both the service and the food. I've been to Mexican restaurants around the country, and this has to be one of the best. The food was excellent and the service outstanding.

I would recommend Harry's to everybody.

What?

by dartmthnyc

What are these reviews talking about? I ate here two nights ago. Food good, service good. Hostess was funny and sweet despite a big crowd. Cute too. Good experience overall. Eat here.
