Go for the Sunday brunch

by Chaimshalom

While the food is ok at other times, the Sunday brunch menu is excellent. You can't beat the ambience with the old house feel and the fireplaces.

  • Pros: Cozy, homey place with great Suncay brunch
  • Cons: Not a great value the rest of the time

Poor mgmt

by sixftcutie

I'd love to give this place several stars but unfortunately I just can't. There are some upsides to the space, the little nooks to eat and enjoy a date being one, but the food was pretty much what I could've cooked at home and the manager ( I think his name was Mike) was just rude and obnoxious. I'm not sure if he was having a bad day, or had a bad phone call, but when you're in the business of servicing people you have to put your personal feelings aside. He totally soured me to ever eating at the restaurant again.

food was totally uninspired

by elzsilas

I tried Vince and Eddie's for the first time one week ago and wasn't impressed. I give them 4 stars because the atmosphere, service, and food were all good. It had no soul, though, and the food was totally uninspired, tasted just like any other standard 5 star meal at any hotel or fancy restaurant anywhere in the world. I had the grilled shrimp steak. I just wasn't inspired by the experience ...

I expected better

by mfoxjackson

My husband and I stopped in for dinner before the opera. We too had the fruit fly problem (in the dining room, in February!!) Not as excessive as the previous poster, but I wasn?t happy sharing my wine with them!

We both started off with the Mozzarella and Tomato salad which was very disappointing. I was part of the way through it when I realized that there didn?t appear to be any olive oil on it as listed. Overall the presentation and flavor was lacking.

I had the spaghetti with white clam sauce, which other than having a bit too much sliced garlic in it, was quite good. My husband ordered the Lamb Chop 'special' which he said was a pretty small portion and as it turned out very over priced. $38.95 for a 'special' in a place that most entrees were in he $20-25 range was certainly too much!

The atmosphere was nice with the fire place going, the service was good, the hostess was extremely nice, but overall I expected better of the food.

  • Pros: Atmosphere, Hostess
  • Cons: Friut Flies

Gnat Problem, Very Medicore Food, Over Priced

by sag1125

I ate there with my mom and sister on a weeknight in the back garden room. There was a serious gnat problem -- little insects flying everywhere! For some reason they only seemed to bother our table. It finally got to a point where we were getting swarmed and the gnats were landing in our wise glasses. We moved inside, where it was slightly better.

I ordered the Chicken Milanese which the waitress promised was "light for the summer" and not fried. It was fried and greasy -- so much so that I felt my lips and pores oozing grease after. My sister had the roasted chicken which she said was bland and smothered with cheap BBQ sauce. She said it was almost as if the chef wasn't sure how to prepare the chicken, so he threw on some BBQ sauce. My mother had the salmon which she said was find, but her side of broccoli was not good. We also ordered a side of sauteed spinach to share, which had a very strange and "off" taste to it.

  • Cons: Overpriced, bland food, insect problem

Hidden Gem

by williamframe

They say the Upper West Side has many trendy restaurants, but few good ones. Well, Vince & Eddies is one of the best in the whole City. Everything about this cozy place is welcoming and rewarding! All of the staff exceed any expectation of service and courtesy... even the first time you go, you feel like a regular guest. The food is superb, with their own twists and touches to always make dining there a unique and enjoyable experience. Try their calamari, you'll never want marinara again!!!

  • Pros: SERVICE, GREAT FOOD, AMBIENCE

sunday brunch

by erikabai

A cozy restaurant on the upper west side, this restaurant comes complete with a fireplace, live acoustics by a violinist and eight-string guitarist, and Sunday afternoon choices like curry chicken salad, mesclun salad, and eggs benedict. It was Sunday brunch at its best.

Best Calamari you've ever tasted.

by guamian671

One of my first experiences with Vince & Eddie's was when I moved into the neighborhood in July. The owner of the restaurant gave us a free round of drinks to welcome us to the neighborhood. The food is wonderful. From filet mignon, calve's liver, gourmet meatloaf, basa to trout, everything we've tried so far has been wonderful. The calamari is by far the most exceptional, the most tender I've ever tasted...and its side of the jalapeno-cilantro sauce compliments it to a T (forget the usual marinara, this sauce is tops). Their specials vary and are exceptional. On weekends, they have the quaintest brunch...with live classical music. Try their Austrian oven-baked apple pancakes. They also have an outdoor garden with an outdoor fireplace. The waitstaff always remembers us and are prompt to greet us. This is by far the best restaurant experience I've had for the right price.

  • Pros: Brunch, calamari, waitstaff, never too crowded
  • Cons: none
