Service was great...food was not
by Flushingsfinest08
I took my bestfriend here for a birthday breakfast, and was surprised to find a line outside (it was about 55 degrees), where we had to wait 20 minutes for a table. The first problem was the horrible coffee, followed by the dry and flavorless banana nut pancakes. My omelette was okay, but the "biscuits" they serve with them are nothing more than what you find in the bread aisle of the supermarket. To say that I was not impressed would be an understatement. Our waitress was great, but I most certainly will not be back, and now I owe my bestfriend another breakfast...
- Pros: Waitress and bus boys were great
- Cons: Food was horrible and overpriced, wait time was ridiculous
MMMMMM

This place is perfect on Sunday mornings.
The neighborhood knows this, so go early as locals will flock to it
Impressed by a juicy burger
by stu87
I ordered a burger, with additional cheddar cheese. I was seated outside for there's no room inside and it was a very hot day. However, burger was GREAT! Bun was toasted and still hot. The beef petty was juicy and well-cooked. It was a mouth- watering and until now. Waiting deserves it.
- Pros: Great taste, relatively fast served, friendly service.
- Cons: Waitings, so many people allmost every time.
Good Food, Bad Service

The food is very good, especially Deep South, Chili, and the Cheese Board. The service is terrible. DO NOT GET IT DELIVERED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Average Entree Tasty Cake
by thedood2002
After hearing about Good Enough to Eat while waiting in line at another renowned brunch spot months ago, I finally made the trek up to the UWS for a weekday lunch. My fellow diners and I ordered a breakfast quesadilla and lump crabmeat pizza as they were both specials, as well as a macoroni and cheese.
Unfortunately, the quesadilla was on the small side (6 inch diameter) and tasted mediocre (sausage, egg, peppers with GETE salsa and sour cream). The pizza which I sampled was tasty but rather doughy. The mac and cheese was cheesy but definitely on the oily side.
Having waited about 20-25 minutes for our entrees, we had plenty of time to take in the knicks knacks and very neat decorative paper spring flowers, not to mention the bake goods' display case. Having given in to temptation, we sampled the banana chocolate chip peanut butter frosted cake which was very good.
Our waiter was attentive and polite.
I suppose I will have to give the GETE brunch menu a chance sometime, but will not rush to do so. My allegiance still lay with a certain Gramercy eatery's brunch menu.
- Pros: Cake
- Cons: Pricey given the mediocrity
WHY SUBMIT YOURSELF TO THE ABUSE
by Gige
When I first moved to the UWS, I thought this place great. I would get up frequently on Sundays and order pick up. HOWEVER, GETE has completely gone down hill - mostly in terms of their staff. The last time I called for take out, they said they never do that on Sundays - which was a lie since I had been doing it for months before. Then, I called for delivery, which their website clearly says they do but do not mention a radius. I called and after being directed to the dining room (when you call there one of those annoying automated menus) and asked for delivery. The lady puts me on hold. She gets back on the line and asks for my address, which I give. She then says she's not sure she can do that and asks that I hold, I am then put down but not actually put on hold so that I can hear "Can we deliver there?" "Eh. . . . . .ew, no." The staff member gets back on the phone and tells me they only do a 5 block radius. True answer or what they wanted to say at the time????? I think it's very clear to me based on my experience and others this place is not good enough to waste your time trying to receive service from the staff who doesn't want to be there. As for the food, was good once upon a time, but I haven't been allowed since they didn't want to deliever to me.
- Pros: absolutely none
- Cons: don't care about their customers, specially once loyal customers
A good breakfast/brunch spot.
by mccartneyd4113
Great brunch. The french toast, pancakes, farm fresh eggs and the freshly squeeze OJ are reasons to come here to feed the furnace.
- Pros: Good spot for brunch for 2...or 4.
- Cons: Oft times a wait for a table; the place is small.
Don't eat the birthday cake!
by julibabi
I trusted the reviews on citysearch to help me find a bakery that makes good birthday cakes. I called up this bakery and asked for their most popular birthday cake order, and then I picked it up and brought it out to the Japanese restaurant where we were having the birthday dinner. I completely regret that decision without actually having gone there first to sample the cake. It was a yellow cake with chocolate frosting, something I could have picked up in a cake mix box at gristedes. Fine. But, the yellow cake was dense and very dry, I had to ask the restaurant to bring us some ice cream just so we could have something moist to wash it down with. I was very disappointed with the texture and overall quality of the yellow cake. I would not recommend cakes from this place. As for the food, I've never tried it.
Great Mac & Cheese
by callisto
I came here on a late Wednesday night so it was not crowded at all. I ordered the Mac n Cheese & it was probably the best I've ever had so far. Gruyere cheese on ziti pasta. I couldn't finish the whole dish but had a great lunch the next day as well. My friend ordered the Chicken Parmesean & it was decent, but he wanted my Mac n Cheese more! We tried the coconut cake dessert which was recommended by the waitress, but it wasn't that great. The service was good. I will definitely come back to have some mac n cheese again.
- Pros: Great Mac n Cheese
- Cons: nothing so far
Brunch is Great!
by michelle806
I have been here a few times and have not been disappointed....The food taste VERY fresh and the Eggs do not taste processed-Everything taste home made. Desserts are even better, but becareful if your on a diet! The line at times moves a bit slow, mostly on a Sunday, but its worth it. I would definitely recommend coming here!
- Pros: Everything is fresh!
- Cons: They should have more then one location!
