Surprisingly Good
by CelestialNYC
My friend and I wandered into here today after walking around Central Park. It's really nice and cozy place with outdoor seating in the summer. We tried the prosciutto pizza which was shockingly great! It's hard to come by prosciutto pizza that's not so salty and this one was just perfect and crisp and tasty. We also had the shrimp salad, also very good. Our total meal was $28 w/o tip. I think it's a great spot for catching up w friends or even going out on a date. Place isn't that big but charming. Only downside was the waitress seemed grumpy, but service was fine otherwise. I would definitely come back here if I was in the neighborhood and in the mood for pizza! They have pasta dishes and some antipasta dishes as well.
- Pros: Pizza, outdoor seating
- Cons: waitress could've been a bit more friendly
Simply in love!
by Cleo717
I felt in love with this place from the first look. This simple, but stylish upper west side italian restaurant with a brick oven has almost become my home. Sometimes I come there even twice, for luch and dinner. This place is good to take out your family for a dinnner and very romantic to come for a date later. Bettola has the best pizzas. Last night I had white pizza with asparagus, chery tomatoes, mushrooms and truffle oil. My friend had Prosciutto de Parma with goat cheese, marinated tomatoes and lots of basil. Amazingly good! Pastas are also very good, never tried carrot fettuccine or goat cheese and pistacio ravioli in any other place.
The service is very friendly, professional and easy going. They are knowledgable about their different wines and daily specials.
I have tried so many places in the neighbourhood, but Bettola is the place I will allways return because it is consistant and never dissapoints.
Best thin crust pizza
by manamy
This is truly an Upper West Side gem - the pizzas are excellent as well are the salads and the spinach lasagna. They even offer the option of whole wheat dough for your pizza. However, I believe the service leaves a lot to be desired. The waitstaff is inattentive and unknowledgeable about the menu/specials etc.
Still worth it to go, esp if you live in the neighborhood.
- Pros: Thin crust pizza, whole wheat option
- Cons: No bar, poor service
Delicious authentic Italian cuisine
by Gothkitten
A wonderful and authentic Italian restaurant. I have eaten here about a dozen times since it has opened, and I have always had a delicious meal. The pizza is delicious and the pasta is so tasty. The lamb chops are outstanding.
Actually Left Hungry
by mikemny
Ate here last Saturday night with my girlfriend. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. The wine was absolutely delicious, and we were able to sit back and enjoy it without feeling rushed. In fact, I enjoyed everything about this place except the food. I ordered the steak dish, and was the smallest portion of meat I've ever seen. Not only that, but the flavor was pretty bland. After cleaning my plate and still feeling unfulfilled with my meal, I decided to order desert. Once again, the smallest piece of cake I've ever seen was set down in front of me. The prices at this resaraunt are pretty reasonable, but when I go out to eat, I don't want to pay $22 for a steak and then leave feeling still quite hungry.
- Pros: great wine
- Cons: small portions

Authentic Food
by changc05
I'm surprised that this restaurant was not more highly rated. I ate there last night and was surprised at how delicious and creative all of their dishes were. Their pesto was amazing. It is an unassuming restaurant, but they really know their pasta.
- Pros: Good food, Fair prices
- Cons: Very dimly lit, Slow service
Horrible
by uki_uws
I agree with the other posters: the food is not good (they brought out what must have been microwaved frozen bread to begin the meal) and the service is a joke. The waiter would walk away in the middle of you asking something. Luckily the food he dropped all over the floor didn't belong to anyone in my party....or unluckily, perhaps. Truly worthy of being shut down - there are already too many horrible Italian restaurants in this city.
- Cons: Awful service, Horrible food
