Sarabeth's West is hands down one of my favorie restaurants in NYC. Every time I've gone, I've tried something different on the menu and it never disappoints. The service is excellent too.
- Pros: Excellent all of the time
- Cons: none

Went for brunch on Sunday afternoon around 1:30pm, and was told there was a 20minute wait and it may be quicker because not everyone who had put their name down stayed around to wait. Ok, I understand if it's a little longer wait than the hostess claims but as forty five minutes approached and the other "tables for two" waiting outside had been seated I assumed I would be the next name called. To my surprise, there were people walking right in and being seated immediately as I continued to wait outside in the rain. When I approached the hostess (who wasn't the girl I had given my name too) and she claimed that those people being seated weren't present when their name on the waitlist was called, but since they came back they get priority. She insisted that is the restaurant's policy. Needless to say, if I knew this so called "policy" I would have NEVER waited, and left upon arrival rather than wasting part of my afternoon. I am thinking of going back this Sunday and telling them I put my name down last Sunday for brunch and according to their policy that should give me priority seating. I have never encountered such unfair treatment nor has ANY dining establishment followed such a ridiculous "policy". Clearly they need to train the hostesses on the etiquette of a proper waitlist.
- Pros: NONE
Superfluous Charge

I go to the UWS location all the time for Brunch. I don't mind the high prices, long waits, and often overworked wait-staff. However, during my last trip this weekend, I went with someone who asked for "just some hot water" when offered coffee. I was appalled to see the $1.50 charge for it on the bill. Sarabeth's management, if you're reading this, change this policy!! That is a ridiculous insult to customers paying close to $100 for brunch for four. Come on, Sarabeth's, at $15 for Eggs Benedict, you don't need to be charging for water.
bad service, worse food

This was my first visit and my last. Mid-day on a weekday, I asked for a table for 2. There were tables available. I was told that my companion had to be there before they would seat me. I told the hostess that my friend was 3 blocks away; she had just phoned me. She still wouldn't seat me. I said, "This makes no sense. If I said 'table for one,' you'd seat me right now AT THE SAME TABLE." No dice. And the restaurant is tiny. It really was awkward to stand. After all this... My friend and I both ordered the same chicken salad which was disgusting (and I am NOT a picky eater!) and not as described on the menu. Any chicken salad from any corner deli would have been comparable. A mayonnaisey mess and low quality meat. The whole experience was a big YUCK.
- Pros: I've heard the breakfast foods are best bet
- Cons: bad service, bad salad
My Favorite Default Brunch Spot... have yet to be disappointed
by sophisticatedpalate79
Been here plenty of times (this location and the one on Central Park South)... the food is filling and delicious, like a good home cooked meal. The almond crusted french toast is my favorite. I've also had a variety of omlettes. Oh, I have to mention the lemon pancakes (forget the official name) but they are damn tasty too! I come here when I want a guaranteed enjoyable brunch... and a nice teapot of some herbal to go w/my meal =)
- Pros: Brunch, brunch, and brunch
- Cons: Crowded, long wait - but don't really mind
Sarabeth's Best (Brunch)
by b00pi3flak3s
If you can somehow get past the lines, this place is totally worth it. The food is amazing and the service is impeccable. It is just too bad everyone else knows about it.
- Pros: Food, Service, Brunch
- Cons: Long Wait On Weekends
Lovely!

I have been to this Sarabeth's West for brunch twice, as well as a couple visits to the other locations. I am always glad I went and often find myself recommending it to others when the topic of brunch arises. The omelettes were delicious, the pancakes were great too... but my favorite thing at Sarabeth's has to be the pumpkin muffins! So yummy! :)
- Pros: food, ambience, location
- Cons: sometimes have to wait

Very Disappointed
by bargain_girl
After YEARS of hearing about the amazing brunch at Sarabeth's, when I finally went for the first time on Mother's Day I was EXTREMELY disappointed. After waiting for an hour outside, when we finally got in, the place was very loud, and the food was pretty bad. The $15 eggs benedict was awful, the omelet needed some serious seasoning, and the potato "waffles" were rubbery and mushy. The only redeeming parts of the meal were the coffee and the croissant. I MUST point out however, the waitress was FANTASTIC. She was warm and friendly despite the enormous amount of work she was doing. The hostess was also excellent, and working brunch is a tough job.
- Pros: service, coffee
- Cons: food, noisy
