I've gone to Jake's a few times in the last few years, and everytime I go, I've had a great time. Some nights are better than others, but there are no complaints. The bartenders are on top of everything; I've never had to wait drastically long for service. Booze is decently priced, and no one is pretentious. You can talk to anyone there. Everyone there is out to get loose and have fun. You have your occasional person trying to start trouble, but the bouncers are always on top of their game. I've had such a good time there everytime I go, I seriously make it a weekly outing, b/c you never know what'll happen! Never had the food there, but it seems to get served pretty late into the evening. So if the munchies kick in, you'll def be able to get service. With Jake's, you either love it or you don't. If you think you've past your prime and too cool, then better luck else where. But if you're out to have a good fun time and relive your college days, DEFINITELY GO! It s just that kinda place.

Pros: Bartenders, Wide Selection of Beer, Good Company

Cons: No dance space, mid-size space

I would have to say all in all this is an average bar. Went there on Friday and was paying $5 for Bud Lights. Seems that they have specials everyday but Friday. Bartenders were great as it was packed with a younger college crowd and you could still get a drink without a long wait. Had no problems whatsoever with any staff or any members of the crowd and even though it was packed everybody was getting along. The bar is what it is...a college crowd that likes to booze. I would recommend going any night other than Friday so you can at least get a cheaper drink. If you do go on a Friday it cleared out after 1am.

I'm guessing that the owners/staff of the bar wrote at least half of those 'positive reviews'. Seriously, this place went downhill in the last few years(it was always a dive bar, but b/f it was awesome within the context of it's genre). If you like a place where the bartender slips your date his number (after witnessing it happen to another, the same guy tried to slip my buddy's girlfriend his number), or a bouncer constantly hanging around flirting with the ladies in your group, by all means go to Jake's. If you're a guy with a woman, it's actually quite difficult to keep the male staff away from you. Our only mistake was after subjecting ourselves to it once, we went back a second time and found similar results. Both nights I went to Jake's the cops came and both times the staff had truly instegated the problem(although the staff managed to get the customer reprimanded in both cases) - and both times it was over a woman. Jake's is a shadow of it 's former self, and will have a difficult time keeping good clientele with the current team. There are too many other 'similar' dive bar options in the area that do not pose such problems. Good location keeps it afloat, but the owners are doing themselves a disservice with this staff.

Pros: Good Beer Selection

Cons: Staff

Its a college dive bar, but one in which is a lot of fun especially during weekends. Its never been too crowded, drinks are pretty cheap, and the atmosphere is rowdy but casual.

Pros: Value, Bartenders, Games

Cons: Crowded

This place is very low key and fun! My friends and I always have a great time with the adoring bartenders dave and jack. So cute you want to eat them. The drinks are great and munchies are available. Shoot pool, play beer pong or flirt. Whatever you decide you will be in good company. Plus, there are a string of similarly fun places on the block. Not the kind of place you go to be glamorous. Ideal to meet a pal for a drink

Pros: not glitzy

Cons: not glitzy

My friend and I have been to Jake's a bunch of times, usually during the week. Definitely not trendy - just a good place to grab a beer with your friends. The bartenders are solid and there's usually new beers there that I haven't heard of. Prices and specials are decent, too

Pros: no gimmicks, prices

Ok, so been going to Jake's for about a year. thursday nights rock. $10 PITCHERS of shots. Yes I said pitchers. Can't beat the prices. Bartenders are nice, and attractive. Plus last week Tony Danza was there yelling out quotes from Broke Back Mountain. I must say... all-in-all a vrey fun Thursday night.

I went to jake's dilemma on a sunday night... they had $2.50 pints!!! what a great price for NYC. (I can finally afford to not be a shmuck and tip more than a dollar a drink and still pay my rent!) the rock music was playing and the bartenders were basically hosting a party the way they were taking care of everyone making sure all were having a good time... I left at nearly 3am and there was still a nice sized crowd for a sunday night, but I had to work in the morning! I stopped by again on monday and found another great special...$7 pitchers ($10-$11 pitchers with the tips I was giving... the bartenders deserved it!!) again the bartenders were cool as hell. the monday special was great for getting in a few games of beer pong. I've found my "watering hole around corner"...Jake's

Pros: drink specials, great bartenders, "party in a bar"

Cons: bathroom downstairs
