I have been meaning to write a review about my experience at Stand Up NY. A few months ago, I caught wind that Chris Rock was going to be performing, so being the fan i am, I went! And boy was i in for a surprise!! Chris Rock performed for almost two hours right in front of my very eyes!! I couldnt stop smiling the entire time!! Even when he wasnt being funny---i was smiling just because i was so excited to be in a room w him performing!! You could tell that Chris was just practicing his materials....but how cool is that--seeing Chris Rock actually prepping for one his his world tours!!! There are no words great enough to describe my experience at Stand Up. Cool doesnt even begin to describe it!! Thank you Stand Up for a night atht ill always remember!!

Pros: Chris Rock!!

My husband and I live just a couple of blocks away and decided to catch a show the other night. Oh my goodness, we were so glad we did!!! We had such a fantstic few hours of laughs and went home smiling!! First of all, the host, Rob Cantrell, was absolutely hysterical!! I could've listened to him alone all night, but thank goodness, the other comedians did not disappoint!!! There were four comedians....all with different styles...and all hilarious!! The atmosphere of Stand-Up was perfectly classic--the club is small enough to be intimate, making you feel like you are truly part of the show, but large enough to house quite a crowd!! Everyone there was having a ball and we still havent stopped talking about our night of laughs at Stand-Up!! We are definitely going to be spending more time there in the weeks to come!!

Pros: the host rob cantrell was AWESOME---and so were all the comedians

Cons: nothing

$10 for a bottle of Corona beer is kind of excessive in my opinion. Also, even though service is lacking, they automatically add in a gratuity of %18 for all checks, regardless of the size of your party. This practice also strikes me as questionable. All adds up to greedy management.

Pros: depends on the comics performing that night

Cons: money-hungry management

I have never had a worse experience going out. The management told us there was a 2 drink minimum or $15 per person. 20 minutes into the show, I was given a bill for $88.00. When I went to question it, half a dozen angry men surrounded and yelled at me. 'Management' told me that I had to pay it or they would call the cops. One man blocked the door while others yelled....it was OUTRAGEOUS.

Cons: HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT. DISHONEST PRICING POLICY. HARRASSING STAFF.

I went to this particular comedy club a few times- and had a blast EVERY time. The two drink min. isn't that bad....its a comdey club for god sake people! the talent there is superb as well, especially Big Jay Oakerson. NY Stand up is such an intimate place, too. You really feel connected with the talent. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING TO THIS COMEDY CLUB!

Attented the 9:00 Sat. night March15th show and came away very dissappointed. The talent on this particular night was horrible. I realize a club is only as good as the talent but the whole experiance was a let down. We would not have felt half as bad as we did paying $55 per person with drinks if the night would have been filled with laughter but that was not the case. Good service, poor talent, good atmosphere a bit pricey

Pros: atmosphere

Cons: talent and a little pricey

The Comedy was Amazing! I had a great time with my boyfriend, we laughed all night. However, the manager was extremely rude. When we arrived at the club, we stated that we purchased tickets online and he immediately told us it was impossible and rudely dismissed us without asking any questions. My boyfriend was ready to walk away, but I thought it was ridiculous because we HAD bought tickets online. To the managers already turned back, I stated the company's name that we purchased the tickets through and he realized his error and let us in. No apology after the quick dismissal or rude treatment. After the performance a fight broke out for atleast five minutes and a guest/customer had to break it up. Where was the security? I do not recommend this place. There are many other comedy venues in the city that host the same comedians.

Pros: Location - Street Parking

Cons: Rude Staff and Expensive Drinks

Wow! Getting into a comedy club for free is unheard of. Then, some people have think they have the right to complain because they actually have to order something. Sheez! I had a great experience while I was there. I'm not a cheap person. I know that all comedy clubs have a two drink minimum. My husband and I had more than the minimum. The reason the sodas are not cheap is because they bring out a pitcher so you can drink as much as you want. Our waitress was awesome. The show was funny. I will definitely go back!! If someone wants to complain that their bill is too expensive, maybe they should go out somewhere cheaper......say, Jersey..instead of Manhattan.

My girlfriend and I went here on Saturday night to see our friend perform (who was the only good part of the show I might add) and when we arrived we were told it was a $20 cover/$15 drink minimum per person. Ok, fine, no big deal. Except, I have been a bartender and waited tables for years and anywhere I've ever worked or gone to, if there was a drink minimum it actually applied to anything on the menu. So we were totally under the impression you just had to spend at least $15 in addition to the cover charge. Neither of us are big drinkers so we each ordered a coke. My girlfriend got mozzarella sticks and I got a salad. We got our bill and, are you ready for this? $113!!!!!! They charged us $30 for the 2 sodas b/c apparently the minimum applies to drinks only which I find funny b/c why didn't our waitress tell us that when she saw we were only ordering sodas and salad?! Not to mention, they add an 18% gratuity which was part of the cover charges!!! Half the bill was cover charges and the stupid "drink minimum" making the gratuity $18!!! All for 2 sodas, salad, and mozzarella sticks! Ridiculous! After trying to talk to the manager, she was LESS than courteous, saying that the specific drink minimum is written on the menu. Ha, yeah, you need a magnifying glass to read it and with it being dark in there you definitely don't see it. So then I told her I refused to pay the 18% gratuity if they were going to rip us off like they were and she actually said she would charge me for theft of property if I didn't pay the gratuity!! Haha! Just so you folks know, you are NEVER obligated to pay gratuity ANYWHERE even if it's added onto the bill. You absolutely positively can NOT. Take it from me, I've worked in a bunch of bars and restaurants, and they can't force you. So anyway, they kept trying to tell me I had to pay the gratuity and I just said no way so eventually they were like, "fine, just get out of here". Oh trust me I won't be going back!!!

Pros: nothing

Cons: everything

My girlfriend and I were visitng NY, Times Square where a ticket seller was seling us 10 dollar tickets with the pitch that sienfield might attend. WE decided not to buy tickets, but decided to stop by that night anyway. At the door, we were told that our admission would be free as long as we followed the drinks minimum (BIG MISTAKE!) two budlights and one sprite for a total of $44 OUCH - out of the four comedians the first one was funny, but the last one including the "headliner" weren't. The headliner's jokes were like "im fighting terrorism by punching cab drivers" - maybe i didnt find the comedians funny because i had seen my tab - oh well

Pros: Some funny comedians

Cons: $10 bud lights, $15 sprite?
