In Need of Customer Service Training

by ninik

The actual vet may be competent; I've only taken my dog to this office once. My problem is with the office staff. The main assistant/receptionist in particular is not very bright and that has affected the level of service they provide.

Basically, the office staff seems incapable of answering basic questions. Furthermore, when they mess up they make no attempt to salvage the relationship. I won't be returning and I'm highly skeptical about the 5-star reviews.

Excellent Veterinarian

by jkinn

Even though it was on a day that his clinic was closed, Dr. Fierman called me back soon after I left a message about coming in for the first time. He and his assistant were very friendly and professional and put me at ease. While we were in the office, he discovered that the two "lumps" on the longhaired cat's belly were cysts. He examined them closely and carefully removed them right there in the office, explaining what he was doing, and he didn't charge extra for it. He was very gentle with the cats and explained everything he was doing. He made recommendations and explained his reasoning for them. I feel confident that Dr. Fierman will take very good care of my two cats. My household recently expanded to include a large dog, and I will be bringing him to Dr. Fierman, as well.

  • Pros: Patient, thoughtful, loves animals, listens to you
  • Cons: No surgical options onsite-but he will recommend a hospital

Dr. Fierman and his wonderful receptionist / assistant, Sonya were incredibly gentle with my dog and very open and inviting with me as well. I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of a vet who is kind and honest and operates

a very welcoming environment for the four-legged members of your family.

  • Pros: Inviting and personal care; teacher discount!

A kindly country vet in the big city

by JennyWren

Dr. Fierman and his staff have been terrific to us and have taken wonderful care of our dogs. Dr. Fierman has an unhurried, easy manner and really takes time to listen and observe. Our animals are comfortable and calm with him, and my younger dog has pulled at the leash trying to get to the office more quickly ever since having a minor surgical procedure there a year or so ago. Dr. Fierman and his staff are genuine, competent, and kind. We couldn't be happier and feel very lucky to have found this place.

Great animal clinic! Highly Recommend!

by ccbc

I just moved to the city and decided to get a beagle pup because it gets pretty lonely here. I've had beagles all my life and love them so much. I wanted to find the best services for my new puppy. I came across Cathedral Dog and Cat Hospital. The Dr. was so informative and really took the time to talk to me about puppy care. I can hear the sincerity in his voice. I was there for more than an hr just talking about puppy care. They dont open on tuesdays and wednesdays but you can leave a message and he'll call back if you specify. They give 10% student discount. Their rates are pretty standard. I know some places the 6 in 1 shots are like $49, here is only $39. Not expensive at all compared to the other bigger facilities. Here is more intimate, smaller and more personal. I highly highly recommend if you want a lifelong family doctor for your pet.

  • Pros: prices, student discount, smaller, more personable
  • Cons: Dr. will refer you to a bigger facility to get your spays and neuters.

Dr. and vet are caring, it is always a personal, positive experience

by kat251247

The Cathedral staff is friendly and knowlegeable, it's easy to get an appointment, the Dr. is always loving and gentle with our cat and spends time explaining procedures or recommendations. We've been to other veternarians in the area (108th) and were WAY overcharged (not just a little bit - A LOT). The charges are reasonable and they offer discounts to students!

Another thing I like is, unlike the vet on 108th, I don't feel pressured or obligated to consent to unneccesary testings/procedures. I feel like I'm making informed choices about pet care - not like I'm a bad pet-parent if I don't have crazy extra tests run or medication administered. Dr. only recommends the things that are needed.

All around it is a friendly, family-oriented office that I will continue to patronize.

  • Pros: Friendly Dr. and Staff, Reasonable rates, easy to make appointments, animal and owner treated with respect

Simply the best vet in NYC

by happytailnyc

Cathedral is the best place if you're looking for a warm, friendly, professional and neat vet for your pet.

My dog loves so much Dr Fierman that every time we're walking around he pulls and pulls because he wants to visit his doctor.

Dr. Fierman is not only a great professional (he KNOWS) but extremelly kind with your dog or cat. He hugs them, makes them feel safe, is very gentle habdling them. He really loves animals.

My score for Cathedral is 10 over 10.

  • Pros: All that you can imagine
  • Cons: None

Excellent Vet in the UWS

by paolo212

Dr Fierman and his staff are very thoughtful and clearly explain what they are doing to your pet. I never felt as though he was trying to push additional services or treatments on our dog. He takes the time to listen and to get to know you and your pet. Vets in NY are generally expensive, but Dr Fierman and his staff treat you fairly and honestly. I shopped around once and paid for it (literally). They go out of their way to help, which is very refreshing.

  • Pros: Very friendly, Caring, Honest

Visiting the Cathedral Cat and Dog Hospital was one of the best experiences I have had taking an animal to the vet. Dr. Fierman really took the time to make my cat feel safe and comfortable and carefully discussed with me how we could proceed to care for his problem. The price was very reasonable and he offers discounts for students and artists. I highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates a vet who really loves animals.

  • Pros: great service, good price, caring atmosphere
