I've been a customer for years but recently, upon returning home I would notice that some of the bagels were severely underbaked. On my last visit (no pun intended) I inspected the bagels in the shop after buying them and saw that at least one of them was quite sticky on the sides (underbaked dough). I brought this to the attention of the manager who immediately chastised me for 'touching' the bagel and would not let me get a word in about the quality of the bagel edgewise. They refused to listen to the fact that the bagel was underbaked. I asked for my money back, they rudely waved me away and dared me to find better quality at a supermarket.
I'm very shocked and disappointed at how rudely these people treated a long-time customer.
- Pros: Used to be good, but on a decline
- Cons: Very rude service

My friends took me here when we wanted a quick breakfast because it's close to our place. The staff was really friendly, and there is a huge variety of bagels and cream cheeses. They were warm and delicious, and one of the best I've had.

Columbia students cure hangovers with these hole-in-the-center creations smothered in cream cheese.

Confession time: I haven't been here in 10 years, HOWEVER, when I lived in NYC and was going to Barnard, I stopped here every morning and got an everything bagel with cream cheese. It was the most divine thing ever and I never tired of it. These days, I'd get an everything bagel with tofutti :) They had the warmest, chewiest most delectable bagels ever. It's a hole in the wall, but the taste is out of this world.
- Pros: best bagels ever. period.
- Cons: none really!

Great bagels but don't expect much in how they treat customers. You may want to check to see if you got what you paid for.
I didn't know bagels could be this good

Amazingly good bagels for a cheap price. They have a lot of different kinds of bagel toppings and they dont skimp on it either. Great if you're low on cash and want something that isnt bad for you and will fill you up.
- Pros: Good food, good atmosphere
- Cons: None that I can think of
Best Bagels in the City, by far!

Perfect for take away, as there is little seating. This bagel shop has wonderfully chewy bagels, made fresh at the store throughout the day. Usually the line is fairly long, but it moves very quickly. Nowhere else will satisfy your Sunday morning bagel craving!
- Pros: Fresh, hot, delicious bagels
- Cons: Small, little seating
Absolutely the best bagels (get it?)

When I think "good bagels" I think Absolute. Their texture is perfect, their taste is perfect, their selection is perfect. The staff is friendly. I adore the young countermaid, she completely slays me. My favorite bagel selection is the everything with lox spread. Morning heaven whenever I can get it.
- Pros: bagels, spreads, staff (especially the girl hee hee)
- Cons: so far from Brooklyn . . .

We love the bagels here - the texture is superb--soft but substantial and chewy in a good way (nothing like a fakey Lenders bagel).
Definitely worth a trip up to Morningside.
Customer service in general is fine--the Thai owner(s) are very very friendly once they once they get to know you as a regular. (Unfortunately, however, I've had a rude and upsetting experience with one of their non-Thai staffers in the afternoon.)
Bagels are near perfection, but if they want to maintain a steady customer base --ie.-- recurring revenue from neighborhood residents--they need to make sure their counter staffers don't get nasty with the customers. No matter how great the bagels are, I'm not going to want to go back for a while if I have to deal with a snippy guy at the counter.
