Flor de Mayo is my new favorite restraunt! This is a good neighborhood spot where the food is delicious and not to mention affordable! The service is very quick and the staff is superb! I definitely recommend this place to everyone!
- Pros: Example: best croissants in town
- Cons: What are the drawbacks?

I am amazed that some people would write bad reviews about this place. First of all this is not fine dining but is a neighborhood spot that does a hell of a job when it comes to cooking great. The service is just as good as any other place. The peruvian dishes are delicious and price accordingly. Being in the food business myself, I can confirm that the prices are cheap and that the cooks do a superb job at their skill level. Of course everything is not done the tradiotional way as one person commented for example the paella and the broiled shrimps were not good along with the service. We must rememver that everyone has their own personal touch in any dish they create. If you want repetition well just walk in to Mcdonalds where food is always the same and if you want fine service then go to Per Se.
We need more places like this one were we can count on the cooks putting the right amount of salt and seasoning on the food or just cooking the rice correctly. I am happy with this place and I am a loyal customer. If you want decent food at a decent price then this is your place!
- Pros: You get what you pay for
- Cons: Crowed at times, but I guess this is a good thing

This is the perfect place to eat. Whether you're coming alone or with family. The food is absolutely delicious; and service is excellent!! But don't take my word for it. Come and experience it yourself.

i love Flor de Mayo! i have recommended this spot to many friends i know. I am peruvian so i am familiar with their dishes & i have to say the "lomo saltado" is by far the best, you just have to try it. don't forget the sangria. everyone i have sent there have nothing but great things to say about it. it's very crowded so expect to wait but it's completely worth it. the service is quick and the pricing is very reasonable for the amount of food you get. definitely yummy food. enjoy =]
- Pros: great food. reasonable pricing.
- Cons: expect to wait but soo worth it. very crowded.

I went to this place last night not knowing what to expect. What we got, was seriously delicious food. This is not a romantic spot, or the place to go when you need to impress... There is no ambience or decor to speak of, but the tastiness is overflowing. We ordered the lomo saltado, the pork chops and some sweet plaintains to share. All of it was delicious, but the lomo saltado was outstanding, by far the best I have ever had. Go hungry.
- Pros: Everything was delicious, huge menu, reasonable prices
- Cons: ambience, decor
Best Peruvian food in the city

It's not fine dining but it's quality food. And it's better than the Peruvian place in the E. Village, hands down. Food is delicious and excellent drinks to boot. This place is open late and has a following, so either make reservations or show up after everyone else does (which is what i always do). I have been here dozens of times and there's so much on the menu to choose from -- grilled fish was good, papas a la ariquepena, pesto pasta, lomo saltado is awesome, nothing has disappointed me or the many friends i've brought here (other than the wait for the couple of times we didn't call ahead). Around $10/plate so not expensive at all and you always have leftovers. I've been to their midtown location and I think this one is better.
- Pros: Great Peruvian food for cheap.
- Cons: Sometimes the wait. But it's worth it.
