Worst service in the upper west side
by CSMobileUser6 at Citysearch
Service is BAD! For the amount of money that you pay you would expect better service. There are at least three more diners closed by that have thesame price range AND better service. They rushed you by bombarding you every 5 mins or so to ask if you are done. Meanwhile your plate is still half eaten.
worst service in the city; mediocre, overpriced food

This place has the worst customer service ever. I quit going there 5 years ago after the host accused me of lying when I walked in alone and said I need a table for two (my friend was a few minutes late). I tried again one year after that with my girlfriend and the same host was there being rude to everyone again; intentionally screwed up our orders, served us frigid meatloaf with no sides, literally sneering as he did it, just had it in for us I guess, and probably all the other customers too. Today, 5 years later, I tried it again, met my father there for lunch. Different staff now but they did the exact same thing again. My father got there 3 minutes ahead of me and said he needed a table for two and the host immediately accused him of lying. My father told him he wasn't lying, that his son (me) would be along any moment. The host still refused to seat him and ordered my dad to the counter until I arrived. As soon as I did so the host came running over and told us we'd have to both wait at the counter until a table became available. Meanwhile the line was getting longer and longer and we weren't being counted because the host apparently forgot about us. Now the freaking counter man comes over and starts telling us we have to get up and wait in line if we want to be seated and that the elderly host "is new" and told us the wrong thing. Then how about straightening out the so-called "new guy" and telling him this rather than yelling at the customers and blaming us? "Fine," I said, "we're ahead of all these other people who've come in the door so we'll take the next table." He told us that was our problem. "I have a better idea," I told him loud enough for everyone to hear, "why don't we find a better restaurant?" We walked out, won't be back, no way, no how. I don't know how this joint stays in business. Go someplace different people, there are much cooler diners on the Upper West Side.
- Pros: great location
- Cons: absolutely awful staff, mediocre food, high prices for diner food
Bland food SOMETIMES nice service
by uptowngrl08 at Citysearch
The food is bland and not very well made for the most part (plenty of better diners on the upper west side.). Customer service is usually very nice except for one man who takes down the delvery orders. Very rude and huge attitude I was shocked at how awful his personality was. Besides him everyone else actually has manners.
- Pros: Nice waitstaff usually
- Cons: bland food
Breakfast Delight
by damamacd at Citysearch
I am a frequent diner, especially for breakfast. Although most of the foods are good and generous, the cooked dishes are often a little bland. Staff is very friendly to me and immediately try to solve any problems that come up. Best are their burgers and onion rings! Their various creamed soups are always tasty.
- Pros: Open 24 hours, friendly service, lots of tables
- Cons: Priced a little high for a diner.
Tasty and reasonably priced breakfast.

My husband and I have eaten there twice now when in NYC. Mostly because it's convenient as it's right near our hotel, but also because it is good food at a good price. Most recently we had the feta omelete and key west fritata. The eggs were cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Neither of us enjoyed the hash browns, but we weren't too brokenhearted because we had more than enough food with eggs and toast. The OJ and coffee were also good. It was very filling - large portions- and it pretty cheap for Manhattan. Their baked goods looked heavenly and they are baked on the premises. Maybe next time!
- Pros: Quick, friendly service, good portions for price
- Cons: Somewhat mediocre food depending on what you order
Awesome Breakfast, Friendly Staff

Being from the UK we don't really get much of the big breakfast here, However on my first day in NYC we stopped here for breakfast and was amazed at the size and quality of the both the food and staff, Where else can you get a breakfast that'll keep you full till about 2pm for under $10, the staff were incredibly helpful and very friendly and the desserts in the evening magnificent. i love this place and will be back there for some more fantastic food and service soon. (I hope !)
- Pros: Breakfasts, Good Staff, Great Service
A NY gem
by wondertrev at Citysearch
In the land of the $20 breakfast, the Key West is astounding. I recently dropped by on a not-too-busy morning (Fri, 8 Am) and had a great b'fast for under 8 bucks. The feta omelete wasn't picture perfect, but tasted fine (lord knows I've scrambled an omlete a bit ot two over the years); the hash browns were good, and the OJ was just fine. I received good coffee frequently from the helpful staff as well.
Those that complain may have dropped in at a bad time, or maybe they're used to staying at the Four Seasons. The hotel around the corner charges that much, but in NYC, that ain't squat. Left on it's own merits, the Key West is a wonderful spot.
- Pros: Price, Food, Service
Not so good
by audreehep at Citysearch
We ate here because it was right next to our hotel, and we were not really happy with any of our food. The service was good and very fast, but nothing was cooked properly. The eggs were runny, the bagel burnt, the home fries a mess. We stuck to McDonald's across the street after that.
- Pros: fast, cheap
- Cons: bad food
