Best snack is lasagne pizza opposite the youth hostel
by RedRedWin
It's been about 13 years since I've frequented the Broadway Dive - but the memories are still brand new! We were broke tourists. The manager then was Dave. He was the best host ever and the locals became fast friends. Dave even gave us a room in his apartment and introduced us to all of his friends in the equally great and friendly Cannon's bar - a couple of blocks away. Unfortunately we lost touch with Dave so if anyone knows where Dave is now please let us know - we're going back to NY in Nov 2008 and would love to catch up!
- Pros: service
- Cons: hard to leave!
Good Service, No Suits.

B'way Dive saved my a**. Bottom line. Reasonable drinks and real New Yorkers. Lots of cool people from all over as well. Killer bar staff, I'll be back to this neighborhood just for this little retreat. Very refreshing spot to unwind after a day of walking the city. I felt like a regular after three nights hanging at the B'way. Love this spot. Good selection of micros - just like home.
- Pros: Locals and travelers
- Cons: A little crowded before 11pm
Loved it!

I went to this bar with my BF and I must admit I was kinda skeptical about this place because of the name - "Broadway Dive". I thought it was going to be grungy, smelly, and full of loud, annoying drunks but it was actually the complete opposite. The bartender took care of us quickly. The crowd was mixed. They have little tables and chairs on the side if you don't feel like sitting at the bar. I wasn't the only girl in the bar which was a huge +. The jukebox plays everything from rock, to hip hop, to country. They have a bunch of TVs to watch your favorite game on and even a fish tank to keep you entertained if you don't like what's on the screens. Great drink selection too. I will definitely be going back here the next time I'm in this part of the city! :)
- Pros: Good music and drink selection, fast service
- Cons: None

Great Place to Hang Out

I was born and raised on the Upper West Side, and this is my favorite bar. I bring all my out-of-town buddies here, and they all like the down-to-earth and fun atmosphere. There are always pleasant regulars as well as new faces, who become fixtures because of the friendly bartender. I don't know how this happened, but this place has also become the home of many visiting sports fans. For example, there are more Red Sox than Yankee fans during Boston-NY games. It's fun watching with the enemy, and I commend them for not being sore losers.
- Pros: Great bartender, Fun crowd, Lots of TV's

This is a great little place to go and have a few beers and watch a game. Which game? Any game you want. They have satellite, and you're able to watch just about any baseball or football game you want. They have 11 beers on tap as well as $2 pints of Miller lite and $2 bottles of Rheingold, so it wont kill you if you need to go out to watch your team in a pennant race. They have recently renovated the front of the bar and made it much more inviting. Where before there were widows with bars on them, now there is a huge window that opens up the front of the bar. Also, if you are hungry the bartenders will call down to their sister bar The Dive Bar and have your burger, wings, or anything else delivered to you.
- Pros: direct tv, juke box, darts

This is my favorite bar in NYC. Not only is there always a bartender who will make you laugh in any circumstance, but it's just a comfortable place to be. As a woman, I feel comfortable going there on my own or with other girlfriends. There are cute guys, some regulars, especially around the dart board on the weekends. The prices can't be beat, which is nice if you happen to be paying for your own drinks! They just redid the facade of the place and now it's got an airy, open feel to it.
You'll find truth in advertising at the Upper West Side's humble hole-in-the-wall.

The Scene
The management of this modest Irish pub may have changed over the years, but the decor and most of the clientele hasn't. A motley assortment of barflies, local codgers and low-key hipsters drink and mingle as the Cranberries or the Pogues play in the background. The heavy wooden furniture looks like it was stolen from a Catholic school, multiple TVs perpetually play sports, and in the back a lone dartboard hangs below a huge, model airplane. A snarling stuffed boar's head and a fish tank with actual live fish complete the scenery.
The Draw
Habitués come for cheap drafts and laid-back conversation, although this isn't a good place to get picked up unless you want to flirt with men who look like your grandfather. In addition to alcohol, the bar sells a stunning assortment of Utz potato chips and T-shirts and thongs emblazoned with its name.
