Upper West Side hotel near Riverside Park offers budget rates for single, double and triple rooms; shared or private bathrooms.

Extremely disappointing

This hotel DOESN'T TAKE CREDIT CARDS, they don't mention this on their website, and no one told me on the phone when I was reserving the room with a credit card. When my friend arrived to check-in, only to find out that he couldn't pay by credit card, they wouldn't let him pay cash for just one night (we had reserved 5 nights; they insisted that he pay for all 5 nights in cash). So at 10pm on a Friday night he had to wander the neighborhood looking for places to stay. When I later called the hotel for an explanation, the best they could do was to say 'Sorry, we forgot to tell you." It's a dirt-cheap hotel, so I wasn't expecting much, but I'm still so angry that even though it was their mistake, they wouldn't let my friend just stay and pay for one night with cash.
