Nice Manager
by dermotsucks
To teh person who made a review a few comments back. The manager also introduced me to someone at teh bar and we have been communicating professionally now. That was very kind of him. The place is very friendly indeed!
Nice activities
by smartiegirl
One of the reasons I love Brasserie Julien and keep going back is because of all activities there is to do there.
It is not a place where you can go to eat and leave. It is a great place to go when you're bored, want to meet people and be mentally stimulated.
Brasserie Julien is true to the Brasseries in Paris which I have visited many times. When you go to a Brasserie in Paris you go there with the intention of seeing your neighbors, meeting new people, listening to live music, and to engage in topics of conversation.
Brasserie Julien continues this tradition with live jazz, wine and food trivia nights, chess tournaments, and displaying local artist's works.
They are tres authentique!!!
- Pros: Good food
- Cons: 0
Great place for a date
by feedmenplzyc
I went to Brasserie Julien the other night for a date. The food and service was great and so was the atmosphere. The burgers are HUGE so I would def recommend them. Even though my date and I never worked out I would def go there for another date. Oh, and the hostess there very nice and quite the cutie too ;)

OK But Not Worth the Price
by hungrycouple
Brasserie Julien is pretty, romantic and not too stuffy. Service is friendly but they get a little overwhelmed later in the evening as the place gets more crowded. The back is roomier and the live music won't be so loud. Appetizer specials were interesting and delicious. We had to send both entrees back - one was way too raw and the other inedibly chewy. Both were fixed/replaced with no attitude but it was still aggravating. Dessert was the chocolate offering but it was a complete disappointment - tiny and average tasting. Overall, the place is too pricey for what you get and there are too many other choices to go back to this one.
Great bistro atmosphere, great bistro food
by jgabarro
The atmosphere is warm and cozy (and has slightly funky elegance) in the winter, and is open and relaxed in the summer, more or less spilling out onto the sidewalk. The service is attentive and professional and the food is what I think Bistro food should be: flavorful, satisfying and reliable with enough creativity to be interesting but not so much that you don't get what you expect when you order a classic dish. Prices are standard fro french bistros in the city. I've gone with my parents, with my girlfriend and with my friends, and I've gone for dinner and brunch - always a good time.
- Pros: Good service, food, ambience
- Cons: Make a reservation if you're going on a Thurs, Fri, Sat or fro Sun brunch
Great French Decor, Food, and Bar
by UESFOOD1
5 STARS ALL THE WAY! Brasserie Julien has an inviting ambiance, delicious food at reasonable prices, excellent service, and a world-class bartender. I will be coming here for many years, especially for the LIve Music on weekends and the best Bison Burger I've had in the five boroughs.
- Pros: Everything
- Cons: Nothing
Just Delightful...
by AaronFreeman
It's just delightful. Service was great and we were seated promptly. The croque monsieur was perfect. The filet mignon still ranks as one of my top five dishes in life. I have raved about this place to friends and a couple of week later, they made reservations. They said the same thing, it's pure delight eating here.
- Pros: music,food,service,romantic
Most romantic spot on UES, great bar scene
by ues00712
I just moved into the area with my boyfriend last month and we have been scouring the neighborhood for a good wine bar to hang out in. The bartender was great and the wine list was just what we were looking for. We have been back a few times for jazz and brought my mom when she visited - the burger is the perfect early dinner! Our new favorite place!!!!
- Pros: bar scene, music
