best diner in new york city period

by panatha13

awesome place. they got rid of one of the managers that was there for like three years. the boss and his son are always around and checking up on everything. great food they lowered prices and the service is quick, pleasant, and refreshing. there is a reason why on weekends its so busy and its the food. ive eaten here a couple of times and each time the food is just as good if not better. pros: awesome food, dinner especially, very reasonable prices, their new bbq ribscons: the manager that used to be there....thank goodness he's gone

  • Pros: great service, excellent food, good value
  • Cons: the manager that was their....thank goodness he's not anymore

A waste of your time and money

by spiffyjones

Although this diner seems busy when I pass it, I do not recommend a stop here. The two times I ventured in, the service was incredibly slow. I waited almost 45 minutes for a salad. Yes, a salad. The food itself is mediocre at best, the vegetable wrap fell short on the promised ingredients, and the salad was disturbingly wilted. I recommend saving yourself some frustration and dissapointment, and instead walk the three blocks up to Midnight Express.

  • Pros: convinient location
  • Cons: the food, the service, the price

Ripped me off, rude, dishonest people

by bengordon

I ordered last night. The delivery guy got there and instead of the bill being $19 like it was supposed to, it was $24. I called with the delivery guy present and told the man on the other end with a thick accent that he made a mistake according to his menu prices on menupages, he then told me it was a "New Years" menu, I rejected that B.S., he then said rethought his answers and said that the menus on menupages were were "20 years old", which doesn't make sense since two of the items were the correct price and one item was $5 off. Very obvious B.S. I was hungry, it was late, I should have rejected the food but I paid anyway and vowed never again to order from these guys. The delivery guy then had the nerve to scowl at the standard $2 tip for cheap crappy food that I already over paid for and asked for another quarter. $26 bucks for a salad and two small crappy soups, there's a bargain! Save yourself the trouble, don't deal with these people, they're rude slicksters with no regard for propriety.

  • Cons: they cheat you and have no shame about it, on top of that, terrible value, cheap crappy food.

Great Diner for late night meal

by kyspc99

My boyfriend and I came here for a late night meal before heading to a bar across the stree. The wait staff was very friendly-even striking up a conversation and the food was very good at a very reasonable price. Would definitely go back there again!

great home fries and eggs

by baesill

Whenever I go here I get two eggs over medium with rye toast and it's always yummy. I guess eggs are eggs... but they cook them right at least which is a lot more than you can say about other diners, and the home fries are nice and crispy.

So-so diner

by Burt_Reynolds

This place always seems to be busy when I pass it, but the two times I have went there the food has been mediocre at best for both my dishes and my friend's (except the fresh-squeezed orange juice), so I am a little perplexed as to why it is somewhat popular. It probably doesn't hurt that it is on a very busy corner. Maybe someone should recommend something to order, but I would avoid the breakfast foods, which were bland and a little too much money for the quality. The waffle and bacon I order was crap and the omelet my buddy ordered was filled with crap cheese and tasted worse than an McDonald's omelet. The service was a little slow, too. But, this is a New York diner so I can't complain too much.

  • Pros: Location, Diner atmosphere
  • Cons: Mediocre food, bad value, service

don't order for delivery

by allie_sundance

Ordered and they sent it to the wrong address, hour and a half late. They took my meal back to the restaurant and re-cooked the food and sent it back to me luke warm.

Very disappointed with meal and service, the so-called manager could have cared less that I was upset. Try another place, the food is mediocre at best!

  • Cons: bad service, manager doesn't care, mediocre food
