A surprisingly engaging little museum for little people to learn about the continent's original inhabitants.

The Indian Wants Upper Manhattan
This shoebox-sized museum is pleasingly--not hyperactively--participatory. Kids can sit in teepees and dugout canoes, handle actual Indian artifacts or participate in campfire games. Some may even want to volunteer as helpers during group presentations on how the Native Americans used to make their tools and clothes by hand.

If you're looking for a little more activity than that, keep in mind that there's also lots of singing and dancing to be had during group workshops on Native American customs. If you'd rather save your energy, a well-executed photo exhibit about the Native American ways of life awaits you. Call ahead to learn of the day's activities.
