Pizza the Old Fashion Way
by rkrueger1
You know that feeling when you walk into history and you get it everytime you visit the original Patsy's on 116th and 1st Ave. The smells, Fank Sinatra playing on the stereo, and the old world charm that has been replaced by fast food pizza.
This is an old world pizzaria like I remember from a kid. And, with pizzas starting at $11.00, it's no wonder the place continues to pack them in.
- Pros: Great, thin-crust pizza. Great pastas. Good salads.
- Cons: You have to travel up to E. Harlem to get there.
One of the Best Pizza places in NYC
by pwilliams
I have been going to Patsy's for years and my kids would rather that I schlep to East Harlem to pick up the pizza than ordering from any of the great delivery joints we have around us. My kids are NYC pizza snobs so their demand is probably a good testament to Patsy's tasting pretty darn good. Their other favorite is John's Brick Oven in Greenwhich Village. If you don't like thin crust, brick oven pizza, you won't like Patsy's or John's.
- Pros: Great pizza, great service, great menu
- Cons: none
Old-fashioned restaurant, great food, get what you pay for

I regularly eat, and have eaten at Patsy's for over 15 years and have NEVER once had a rude staff or wrong order experience. That's because unlike the disgusting & growing population of "barbarians" invading the neighborhood, I have manners. Understand that you get what you give. If you have a "stink" attitude, you will be treated appropriately. Understand that you don't go into someone else's place and decide that you will dictate how things will be AND have an attitude of entitlement, dismissal, and all of the things that make people hate you, and expect to be treated with anything other than what you deserve - rudeness. Because I know that you should always be polite to the wait staff, I am treated with respect, I receive perks, and the chef takes a little extra time to prepare my table's meals. I am treated this way at EVERY restaurant I patronize. I highly recommend Patsy's for civil people to enjoy a little bit of family-style cooking and atmosphere.
- Pros: Great food, large portions
- Cons: family restaurant, so there will be kids
disappointed
by obragrande
Pizza slice was very small, and had mediocre flavor. Definitely not worth traveling for. Staff is very rude and unkempt. the pizzeria doesn't even have a display case for the slices. and the walls are dark and dirty looking. Very disappointed, after hearing how famous this place used to be, East Harlem is in need of a good pizzeria.
- Pros: Famous?
- Cons: many
Worst restaurant in NYC
by Lloydsenior
Rude staff, incorrect order, further rude staff, delayed correct order, more rude staff and finally a rude manager. Not a place to even try, there are hundreds of better restaurants in NYC.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Everything
Good pizza, not best in NY
by JECLA
After waiting 45 minutes for our large pizza, I was slightly disappointed in the amount of cheese on the pizza. The pizza is pretty pricey for the not so large size compared to the other NY pizzas. The sauce has a nice spice to it, but it's slightly on the sweet side. The crust is thin and crispy and definitely not greasy which was nice. I would go again b/c it's a nice locale though would prefer a local pizzeria for a really good slice of pizza.
- Pros: Nice atmosphere, pretty good pizza
- Cons: Sweeter sauce and high strung waitstaff
No wonder the pizza is good
by chitoryu12
I tried the location in Murray Hill for the first time. My mother had been to the Harlem location in the 1980s, so she dragged me over to the Upper East Side to try a slice. The crust was amazingly crispy, and the blend of spices and cheese on the pizza was perfect. The waiters were a bit jumpy (a broken glass froze the whole building, and our waitress nearly died of a heart attack when our pizza almost spilled), but hey, if you knew their boss, you would understand.
- Pros: Very quiet, the service is very quick, and the pizza is the best I've ever had.
- Cons: No parking (it is NYC, after all), the waiters are so jumpy I think they're worried of being shot by the owner, and a little cramped.
It's ok Pizza
by MR13
I waited over an hour for a table at Patsy's Pizza. The waiters ( young college boys) were extremely nice and apologetic for the wait. These kids are overworked & recquire more help!! The pizza was ok. The pizza on Arthur Ave at Zero Otto Nuove is BETTER!!!!!!!
