Price gouging on drinks
by novilles
Ordered "a glass of" Chardonnay - on the menu for $6. The bill came and it was $12. The waitress claimed it was because they have three sizes of pours, and my wife didn't specify which size she wanted, so she just gave us the more expensive size. The Manager got involved and admitted the menu is confusing, but blamed US for not being specific. When we asked why it's not protocol to ask what size someone would like, he said it would "embarrass" and make the customer seem "cheap" to order a small glass of wine. Then, even though we spent over $125, he refused to change the bill to reflect what she ordered, and stood by the doubled price.
We work around the corner, and am sorry that Film Center will no longer be a place we feel comfortable patronizing in future. Thanks for years of dining - we're not inclined to return.
- Pros: Nice atmosphere BUT.....
- Cons: Awful customer service; Double check your bill.
My Favourite American Restaurant..
by kellergirl
This is my favorite American restaurant anywhere. Service is excellent, they could teach a lot of restaurants in this city a thing or two about service. Menu - very American - very good.
Calamari, burgers, you can blindfold yourself and pick at random and you're not going to be disappointed. Atmosphere is very comfortable and relaxing with out being sloppy.
- Pros: service,burgers

One of the worst places Ive been to
by comewhatmay6
This place i the absolute worst. I went there yesterday for a complimentary dinner through the hotel i work for and they wre nothing but rude. Food the was horrible, servers were beyond rude and the manager was very careless with anything we had to say. It took over 20 minutes for my chocolate ice cream to be brought out. Meanwhile i watched my friend eat her whole entire Creme Brulee. The food wa very salty. We were ignored th whol time and felt very unwanted. Now call me crazy. When you are trying to network and promote your business wouldnt you want to "impress" the people who are trying to help you out?
There is way too much to type and not enough space. I would not recommend this place at all to anyone.
They lost our business and definitely the hotel guests. After the manager saying "we dont need your services, kep whoever you want out of here" .... there was much more i could add but i feel this is enough to get my point across.
Never again

I've been to Film Center many times over the years. The reason my friends and I go back is mainly because of the good food, above average sevrice and great location. I'm always happy when I leave there. Consistently good....that's why I'll always return.
- Pros: Food, Service, location
- Cons: none
Nasty service. Good food.

We live in Hell's Kitchen, and often go to brunch nearby. Film Center has a tasty brunch for just $13.
BUT the service was the worst I've experienced. We didn't leave a a tip. Why? She didn't do anything. We were seated near the front of the restaurant, and it took over 10 minutes for someone to see if we wanted water. We were looking disgruntled, but no one took note. About 10 minutes later, a young perky blonde comes up and asks us if we want to order food. Um, how about some water? So we ordered water and coffee.
Another 10 minutes and no water. She was chatting with another watress, and not bothering to get us water. We asked one of the busboys to get us water and it arrived right away. Then our sugar packets, were completely wet, and we couldn't use the sugar. And again, none of the waitresses would look in our direction, or even come over when we waved. Again, the busboy immediately gave me new sugar when we asked. The busboys also served our food, and asked if everything was ok. Then, when we drank all our water, no one came around to refill it for quite some time. Again, we asked the busboy to get us more water.
I thought it might be just us, or our watress, but the other two tables near the fron of the restaurant were also being dissed. The watiresses are very pretty. They wear very fashionable clothes. They stand around looking pretty and not lifting a finger.
We left NO tip. WHy should we, when the waitress collects 20% tip of the bill, when the busboys do all the actual work, and get paid nothing, under the table? After we left, I felt that we should have handed a $20 to the busboy, who was far friendlier, and customer-oriented. I am still debating complaining to the manager, but for all I know, the manager might just be the airhead who was seating people.
I foudn the service horrendous, and unethical at the least, for the waitresses to collect tips for doing absolutely nothing more than taking orders.
- Pros: Good brunches
- Cons: Service? What service?
