Great for the price!

by Morroslb

I love trying out new lunch spots and my friend brought me to Margon and I have been hooked ever since. The food is always fresh and coming out from the back and the flavor is pretty close to home cooked as you can get in Times Square. I recommend the cuban sandwiches and the octopus salad. Only negative to this place is that there is limited seating.

  • Pros: Great Price, Fast Service, Great Food
  • Cons: Limited Seating

Fast and easy

by nki65

really small so go to take out. Almost can never find any seating. The give you 2 plates, one for your rice and beans and salad. The other plate for your entree which is overflowing the plate all for $7. How can you beat that price??? Great price and the food is good. its not a fancy Cuban place, think Chipotle for mexican food - margon is that for Cuabn food. Every day, they have different dishes.

  • Pros: fast, good tasting

This inconspicuous Cuban spot boasts budget eats in Times Square.

by Kara Zuaro

In Short
The look is no-frills and the crowd is noisy, but local workers get in line at this lunch counter for authentic and inexpensive Cuban fare. Specials change daily, but regulars rely on the standards--eggs, potatoes, and tropical shakes for breakfast and Cuban sandwiches, pork chops, and octopus salad for lunch, with huge plates of rice and beans on the side. Hungry customers weave through the slim space to snag tables in the back.

Tastes great, very filling

by jenny489

Margon is the best kept secret in NY. The food tastes great and they give your plate is overflowing. There is zero ambiance, but are you at a restaurant staring at the walls or to enjoy the meal? This is definitely not health food (the chicken is pretty oily but that oil is flavorful, let me tell ya) so I wouldn't eat here everyday, but for that once a month treat, head over to Margon. And go hungry!

  • Pros: Pretty cheap, Lots of food, Convenient location
  • Cons: Food a little greasy, Zero ambiance, Cramped space

best cuban food this side of guantánamo!

by thenumberis0

So you wanna dine on some amazing Cuban-n-Caribbean food with some scuba-diving librarian? I know! Who doesnt. The problem? The shush! police dont allow you to eat or drink in a library, let alone cook up some good ol rice-n-beans. What to do, what to do? Heres your eureka, dude: Bring her to Margon. Food is awesome. Ive got the research to prove it. Yeah! I heard even Jupiter and Yankelovich ran taste tests. The verdict? Delicioso. Margons go the best damn Cuban food this side of Guantanamo. Trust me. You wont need a military tribunal to find Margon guilty as charged, of being sinfully yummy. So go out there, grab your favorite green-haired librarian, and drag her out to Margon. Nine out of ten librarians agree: A trip to Margon is, er, overdue.

Totally Awesome!

by mitchellblanco

"Yes, I agree that it is a Mom & Pop type of location, but the food, for us Spanish people, is awesome. It was my very first time going there today and I have to tell you that I will be going back for more. As far as for the other little things, like maybe sharing your table with someone, consider it like this, like if you get to meet new people at the same time."

"A small Mom and Pop shop, and that's why you get that authetic taste!! Rice and beans, bacallo (cod fish), roasted chicken, plantains...it's all good.

Gets very crowded during lunchtime, but they keep it moving. The staff is always friendly.

If you want to stay you probably will get bumped by people on the serving line and might have to share your table."

  • Pros: Food quantity, Inexpensive, Authentic taste
  • Cons: Crowded
