Planes and a NYC Taxi to get to Angelo!

by MJ Scott

I moved from NYC for a job 10 years ago and literally fly in to NY just to get my hair done by Angelo. I've been all over trying to find someone as good...and there just isn't anyone. He is intuitive, he can see what will be right on you and I'd trust him with my hair forever! He's magic. I just flew in last week after having a terrible cut somewhere , and I left there with what he made look like new hair. AMAZING Angelo!!!

How Angelo David Rescued my Hair and inspired me to love Ext

by hollyh742

I don't consider myself as someone who doesn't face reality--but I had been avoiding facing this particular reality for quite a long time.

I always loved my long thick hair and over the years as it naturally thinned--I tried to be philosophical about the aging process.

I had been seeing both my colorist and stylist for over 15 years and I trusted them---they were the "professionals"

Every time I would mention the idea of extensions they would invariably say "It's not that bad"--and of course the bald spots were always covered after they fixed my hair.

But when I began to check the back of my head before I left the house and my daughter said--"Mommy -you have a couple of bald spots on your head"--I knew it was time for action.

Of course I asked my stylists for a recommendation--but they were totally ignorant of the process and were somewhat dismissive.

Friends were no help--because frankly, hair was not a general topic of our conversations...

So I did my own research and came upon Angelo David Salon on the Internet and made an appointment..

Now a hair dresser is probably the most intimate relationship a woman will have with a professional aside from her gynecologist--so changing them can produce some anxiety.

The first issue was the location--yes-centrally located in Manhattan--but I was used to the Upper East Side--

And definitely a different atmosphere--Angelo David was far more serious, professional and much smaller-- which I defintiely appreciated.

I was immediately impressed by the friendly demeanor of the staff

Angel offered me a cappuccino and I was given a complimentary private consultation with Carlos

I liked their focus on the health of my natural hair-and the honesty which they dealt with my issues.

I was so eager I insisted they see me within three days---the result was beyond my expectations--beautifully colored, set within my own hair and style-it is impossible to think it is anything but my own--

I would categorically say that Angelo is the State of the Art when it comes to extensions--a consummate professional-

Of course they are expensive--and there is a time commitment--but for me it was a matter of priorities-I wanted the gorgeous thick hair of my youth--

Angelo gave that back to me---and that's priceless............

I would give it negative stars if I could....

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. THIS IS A JOKE OF A SALON. I made the mistake of purchasing a Gilt coupon for a single process color. When I arrived, the girl at the counter couldn't find my appointment that I made a week and half earlier. She was too busy paying the delivery guy for her food to focus on me. After she finally found me she told me I would have to wait 15 minutes because the colorist was running late. Annoying, but fine. At 1:25, mind you my appointment was at 1pm, the assistant came to take me to the colorists station, but there was no station available. They only have 4 stations at the salon and they were all taken, so he asked me to sit and wait at the sink. At 1:40pm, he tells me that since there are no stations, that I would have to go sit in this private room and have my hair done.

Here is the kicker -- I asked for a single process color. Darken up the color a bit. She tells me that I will have to pay extra if I want my whole head done because at their salon a single process color means you only get your roots done. Um excuse me? That is called a root touch up. Well not at their salon. She got the manager for me, who also said all they could do for me was my roots, and they would blend it a little down my head but not all the way to the bottom. WHAT!???? So what if I wanted to change the color completely? That doesn't fall into a single process color. Are they INSANE? I walked out and called Gilt to get a refund. I have never heard of such a thing in my last 15 years getting my hair colored. Scam artists.

Someone needs to teach those clowns the difference between a root touch up and a single process color. I am pretty sure you learn that the first day of beauty school.

NYC Best Extension and Color Salon

by Rosalie2477

A coworker of mine had her extensions done here and they looked great. I just wasn't ready to commit to the price then I ended up getting a great living social deal for extensions and color.

The service from the moment you book your appointment to the moment you leave is alway first class and exceptional. The staff is amazing especially all the hard working assistants like Piper.

I have very thin hair that never grew back properly after chemo and it was thin, lackluster and blah. My consultation with Carlos and Angelo was amazing for what I needed to feel like myself again. After I got my extensions in and amazing color by Meghan I looked in the mirror and finally had the hair that I should have been born with.

What Angelo does for a woman with some hair and glue is truly therapeutic art.

I feel feminine, sexy and powerful.

This is the only salon I will go to and it's been almost a year and they always treat me and everyone there amazingly.

best experience ever in a hair salon!

by 12clark

This is the absolute best salon I have ever experienced. Carlos, Meghan, and of course Angelo himself are all expert at figuring out the best hair style, cut, color and extensions. I have absolutely never experienced anything like it in a salon. I have thin, fine hair and the only cut I was ever given was short and blunt. All my life I wanted a sexy, feminine cut to match my personality :). Angelo David has given this to me. The staff is amazing and it doesn't matter if you are a movie star or a "9-5er" they treat everyone with the same level of respect and care. They worked with me to figure out a plan that made sense for my lifestyle. Unlike other cuts, this one gets better as it grows out! I can't recommend Angelo David highly enough!

Made me feel so welcome!!

by nycwino

I have thin hair and couldn't find anyone who could properly cut my hair. I have always wanted extensions, but knew they'd cost a lot. I went into this salon, had an amazing consultation with Carlos, had a complimentary manicure and my cut/color turned out amazing! They made me feel right at home! I opted out of the extensions for now but saw several girls walk by with the most amazingly thick/beautiful hair. As soon as my new bob grows out, I'm running back for some extensions =)

NYC's Best Salon for Hair Extensions and Color!

by Jessica86

Don't go anywhere else for hair extensions, I am not kidding! I am THRILLED to no longer have cheesy looking extensions that ruined my ends! Angelo's consultation taught me all about what was best for me and what I wanted, and he matched my haircolor perfectly, as well as matching my fine but wavy texture. No one can even tell I wear them! I don't see that line between my hair and the extensions that even some celebrities have. I can even set and style my hair because it is soft, human hair. Yes, you pay a bit more, but they are the absolute best in NYC. I got a private room and great, caring service. I learned all about how to take care of my hair and even what brush to use. If you ever worried your hair would look bad or fake, no worries here. You can even get clip-in extensions if you want but I like mine because they last and I can wear them all the time now. Love Angelo David, Love my hair agiain.

At LAST! The BEST for hair!!

by lovetheplace

Ok, I'm a salon hopper, I admit, but with everyone trying to do hair extensions now, there are a lot of different systems and stuff out there, and people who shouldn't be doing them. I've tried a big place in Queens, one in Brooklyn and 3 in Manhattan. What I got was a big bill and damaged hair--forget those heated glue ones! This is THE place for great extensions that look real, fantastic and don't do any damage. I finally have my dream of long beautiful hair!! The staff is warm and wonderful, the haircolor is perfect and it's all about service to the client here. Angelo has been an extension PRO in all types for decades, and it shows. You could not ask for a more caring, emphathetic person. No more salon hopping for me.

NYC's BEST salon for hair extensions and hair color!

by BeautyDetective

As a beauty writer, I’ve been in hundreds of salons from Moscow to Miami and I can tell you that Angelo’s hair extensions are the most natural-looking, safe, beautiful and easy-to-manage ones I’ve ever seen or tried. I’ve always had VERY fine hair, so first I got “fillers” to make my bob lots thicker. Everyone was asking what I did, but no one even guessed I had “faux” hair. They last me up to 7 weeks, and are easy to shampoo and style—you treat them just like your natural hair. On my most recent visit, I got extensions for length—not stripper length like some salons give you but one that works with my face shape—and they’re fabulous. One great advantage of the salon is that color director David Stanko (who also educates other colorists for Redken) works with Angelo, so his incredible color matches your human-hair extensions exactly. I have now worn extensions in some form for over a year and have shiny, healthy hair with absolutely no damage. The entire staff is friendly and well-educated, the salon is cozy and pleasant with private rooms, and there’s almost no hair problem they can’t solve. It’s right by Grand Central, so it’s easy to get to, too. I wish I had discovered Angelo David 20 years ago, when every hairdresser in every salon gave me a blunt bob, because that was the only thing they thought would make my baby-fine hair look thicker and hold a style. If you are a woman who has fine or thinning hair, you know what I’m talking about! This is the place for the woman who wants to look great and professional with extensions, and who wants to avoid cheap-looking or hair-damaging ones.
