Cozy

Hospitable, like taking a step back in time. If you need to stay in the UES, this is where you should spend your dreaming hours! It is like a refuge in the UES, quaint rooms that make you feel at home!
Warmth from a bygone era with some enticing extras.

The Scene
This 48-room hotel was rescued by developer Bernard Goldberg and restored to its original 1931 luster. Period details range from the copper marquis out front to the warm cherry paneling in the lobby. Some enticing extras include free garage parking and in-room spa treatments (for a fee).
The Details
Guest rooms are small but offer dramatic hideaways with neutral-colored walls and white fabric canopies suspended above beds with asymmetrical sculpted headboards upholstered in taupe jacquard. The bathrooms are similarly retro with their cast-iron bathtubs and circular stainless-steel sinks set into black granite counters. Pick up a CD downstairs to listen to in your room. King deluxe and penthouse accommodations have sound therapy machines providing the soothing tones of the ocean or forest. Complimentary newspapers and a buffer breakfast are set out in the cafe-lounge in the morning. Artisanal cheese, wine, and champagne take their place in the early evening.
Nice for the price
by jennem at Citysearch
The Franklin is one of the few hotels on the Upper East Side, and as so manages to place a high price on its rooms. And those rooms are small. Still, they are nicely appointed, spotless, and comfortable, with top-rate toiletries and amenities.
- Pros: Good location, Nice amenities, Lovely
- Cons: Small rooms, A bit pricey
My home in New York

I've stayed at The Franklin at least a half dozen times over the last three years. The staff is always friendly and helpful. And, since I usually travel alone, I feel like they look out for me. The rooms, while small, are always clean and well stocked with great linens and Aveda shampoo, conditioner and lotion. The atmosphere, complete with fresh flowers, is very welcoming and comfy.
- Pros: friendly staff, parking available, Aveda products
- Cons: room size

Very romantic ambience. Rose petals are placed throughout entrance and also cover your bed and bathroom. Service excellent in addition to wonderful array of complimentary amenities that make this a tremendous value.
- Pros: ambience, value, romantic
