A tiny, boutique hotel recently restored to its original elegance.

The Scene
When New York developer Bernard Goldberg went on a buying spree, he ended up with--among other hotels--this tiny place. Built in 1902, it's one of the city's oldest hotels and was worth the price and lavish renovation. Many of its repeat visitors would never consider staying anywhere else.
The Details
All of the woodwork and marble in the 88 rooms and lobby has been restored. The rooms feature signature canopy beds and have been redecorated with cherry-wood furniture, brass lighting fixtures and new carpeting; many have decorative fireplaces and views of the Central Park reservoir. Amenities include VCRs, CD players and Frette robes. There are a lot of extras that come with staying here, not least of which is the continental breakfast that is accompanied Sundays with harp music.
