The Scene
This park is set in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, due north of New York City. With its sandy beach, streams and paths, this is a wooded paradise accessible to many and prized by those who visit. Its proximity to the beautiful, historic Hudson Valley--filled with mansions, market towns and forts--is a bonus.
The Details
The park has a mixture of tent and trailer/RV campsites, along with group camps--no hookups or dump station. Canopus Beach features a changing facility with showers, Anglers fish for bass, perch, pickerel or trout. Also available: boating, bridle paths, biking, and nature trails--including a portion of the Appalachian Trail.
