Not so much
by EatonWright
I've had better sushi and sashimi at the salad bar steam tables in Manhattan than at this place. Locals accept what they get in exchange for proximity and ease. The place was packed and nothing I ate told me why. They just got the last money out of this food budget. Too bad.
- Pros: Close to home
- Cons: Flavorless, unimaginative
The best food by far
by CSMobileUser
I have been to many Japanese resturants and yet non are as good as this place. I come from the city to feast in there. Prices are fair for the food.
This place rocks!

Check it out for fresh, yummy sushi, healthy, generous salads with inexpensive/fair prices. The menu is so cute!
- Pros: Fast service.
- Cons: Almost too fast.
amazing place
by stanroth
An amazing place for sushi and at a reasonable place! They have an amazing spread of appetizers before your sushi arrives including some great pickled dishes and a lovely chili sauce that we have tried to duplicate at home. The sushi presentation is great and some of the rolls are so big I can hardly fit them in my mouth in one bite. But so delicious!
- Pros: reasonable price,large menu
Great food, great value
by callisto
The food was delicious. They have a lot of different items on the menu. My udon meal was huge & there was no way I could finish it all, but...alas, I did because it was that good. The price was definitely cheap.
- Pros: Good food, Cheap Eats
- Cons: Nothing

Serving authentic Japanese cuisine in Queens.
Only Real Japanese in Sunnyside
by fifthelement
How many times I got disappointment when I went to fake Japanese restarurant in Queens. I was even mad because dishes looked like being made by someone who never cooked before!
In Sunnyside, of course, there are many Japanese pretending place, but only Ariyoshi is the genuine one. I go to the place very offen. All tapas are good; not really Americanized.
Sushi, honestly speaking, most of places are almost same. Even Ariyoshi can't beat real sushi places in Manhattan. But still Ariyoshi maintains good level. If you don't like Ariyoshi's sushi, you hardly find better place in Queens, or you go to Manhattan and pay more!
Ok, you are not sushi-lover, then, you go ask them other tapas food. I recommend Japanese style quroket with creamy source inside. Grilled Hamachi neck is my favorit one. If you don't know, ask waitlesses what you are looking for. They kindly guid you to the right way.
Last thing, the owner always get good sake brands. When you go there, don't order cheap sake. Ask them cold "Namasake".
Enjoy your meal!
- Pros: You get the good value for what you pay
- Cons: Hard to find parking spot in that area in weekend
Great Food!

I've been going to Ariyoshi for many years now and it's one of my favorite restaurants.
They have a great menu selection and most of them are delicious! I recommend trying the Geso for appetizers, they're really yummy. Their rolls are really good as well and the entrees never disappoint. Their salad is also out of this world. They have a really friendly and accomodating staff. So if you're ever around the Long Island City area, make sure to check this place out!
- Pros: great food, cheap prices
Good Deal
by surfgirl
In a neighborhood filled with many pubs and pizzerias, Ariyoshi stands out as a welcome option for those times when you are craving something light and a bit more nutritional than your average burger or slice. Passed it many times, and have always seen it filled so I decided to give it a go last friday. The result was fresh, tasty and promptly served - I'd definately return when feeling lazy and not willing hop the 7 into manhattan.
- Pros: location, price, value
Best Sushi and Japanese food in Queens
by HeidiLu
I would like to retract my last review of Ariyoshi. In recent weeks I have been back and it was a major disappointment - and not a cheap one. My cousin and his wife were there this weekend and were served sushi w/ WARM RICE!!!! YUCK!
- Pros: , Friendly staff
- Cons: food quality changed
