My 2 daughters have been to other dance studios and I wasn't staisfied. Many years later and we're still a part of the family at Cathy's. My girls have blossomed into fine young ladies thanks to the encouragement and guidance of all the teachers and staff. Miss Michelle and Spiro are a wonderful example for all the kids. (They are the directors). Under their supervision every art detail is attended to with a fine and highly trained eye. THEY ARE FANTASTIC AND COULD MOST DEFINITELY TRAIN DANCERS FOR & DIRECT ON BROADWAY & STAR IN A SHOW THEMSELVES!!!! The secretary- Miss Erica- and her assistants- are always taking good care of us and the kids. If your child is absent they go as far as calling you to see if everything is alright. They sell all the dancewear, shoes, bags ... everything you need. It is so convenient. Well, what more can I say... My older daughter has received several dance scholarships for school because of the fine training she has received at Cathy's. They are so organized (almost to a fault). But, I don't know about you with all that my children have going on in their lives I don't mind it. So, if it is good training and a friendly school you seek for your precious liitle ones...head over to Cathy's. You may watch your kids grow up there.

Pros: TOP NOTCH TEACHERS- CLEAN BEAUTIFUL STUDIO- RECITAL IS GREAT!!!

Cons: NO PARKING LOT...

Cathy's Dance Studio is a studio where one can learn and master many new dance skills. The staff environment is friendly and the instructors are professionals with skills and talent. Together both the students and instructors work in a dedicated committed environment. This dance studio is the place to start and be part of. For over 52 years Cathy’s Dance studios and is encouraged to do so. The director once a child learned to dance in this studio. The director believes that everyone can dance. The students receive excellent training in tap, jazz, ballet, modern and acrobatics. At the end of the year a special show is held at the Manhattan Community College. Students perform and show their skills. It is a great show. Learning is joyful and educational. At Cathy's it is both. I highly recommend this school to everyone who wishes to learn how to dance. Pros: Located in Astoria, Queens near subways and buses. Only 10 minutes to the City.

I danced at Cathy's for over 20 years myself and now my children dance there. The teachers and staff at Cathy's Dance Studio are incredibly talented, dedicated to their craft, and show a true sense of caring and respect for each and every boy and girl under their instruction. The show they put on at the end of each school year is just unbelievable. From the brilliant choreography to the breathtaking costumes - the exciting music and amazing performers, girls, boys, teens, and adults - it's just a complete evening of enjoyment from start to finish - hard to believe this awesome show is put on by the students and teachers from this seemingly unassuming little school in the heart of Astoria! Their tappers are unrivaled in the NY area. Their acrobats give a nail-biting performance year after year. Their classical and modern ballet are sheer elegance and grace. And their jazz and hip-hop is always fresh and original. Great school - I would recommend it to dancers of all ages, shapes and sizes!

Pros: Convenient Location, Professional Instruction, Cutting Edge Techniques

Cons: They should have more than one performance a year - it's hard to wait a full year for the next one!

I was one of the original students at Cathy's Dance Studio. All of my 4 daughters were students too. What makes this school so very special is the staff and the philosophy of the school. Everyone who wants to learn how to dance is encouraged to do so. The director beleives that everyone can dance. The students receive excellent training in tap, jazz, ballet, modern and acrobatics. At the end of the year a special show is held at the Manhattan Community College. Students perform and show their skills. It is a fabulous show. Learning should be joyful in addition to educational. At Cathy's it is both. I highly recommend this school to everyone who wishes to learn how to dance.

I have been attending the annual performance at Cathy's for about 15 years now. The teachers and staff are soooo professional and friendly, and they put on quite a show every year! The dancers are of all ages and levels of experience, but at Cathy's EVERYONE is a star! I believe their program not only offers the best instruction around, but it promotes self confidence and teamwork among the students. I would highly reccomend Cathy's for anyone who is a dancer or who aspires to be, or even for people just looking for a new experience. They have been doing what they do for over 50 years now, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
