I agree with the person that posted that critisized the owners skills, I think she is a mediocre stylist, her haircuts are below average & down right boring!!! I think she has abad judgement in character because of her high turn-over with employees!!! I WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS PLACE!!! the only good thing about this place are the receptionists they have good phone ediquette & are helpfull
Pros: good receptionists!!!
Cons: inconsistent bad stylist/owner

I went to Lacey for the first time in April for a cut and color and it still looks great! I thought the color she did was awesome, not chunky, and very well blended. I have blonde hair and like it to look natural with highlights, which is exactly what she did. My cut was amazing!!! I tried, very vaguely, to describe what I wanted and she did exactly that and more--even with my poor explanation. It is very rare for me to have a short hair cut that grows out well and it's been almost 3 months since my cut and it still looks great! I'm going to see Lacey again in 2 weeks. She's awesome and I saw some other cuts/colors by other stylists while I was there that also looked great. From someone who's REALLY picky, I would highly recommend this salon.
Pros: Great cut and color
Cons: Color is a bit pricey for me, but I guess normal for NYC

I REALLY wanted to like this place, as I've been traveling for years to my old salon in jersey, and wanted to find a place i like close to home. I've been here twice, first got a cut with Lacey. It was a bit choppy and looked just ok. I came back to try her for highlights, since she got such great reviews. Again, just ok. The highlights are much too chunky, I specifically asked for them not to be; to be more subtle and just blend. Plus, she got closer to my head with some highlights, and not other. So some of the streaks have about a 1inch dark root! I was surprised, especially based on other reviews here. The staff here are nice though.
Pros: location, friendly
Cons: uneven cut and color, left with dark roots :(

I've been to Mousey Brown twice to get an all over color and hair cut. I went to a stylist that is no longer there and he gave me an amazing hair cut which I still love. However, the only con was that he didn't color my hair evenly. Both times I went to him I left the salon with uneven hair color which was noticable to my boyfriend (and he has no attention to detail). I think the uneven application had to do with the lighting because the salon is kinda dark. Recently I've been to a new salon and the colorist said my hair color was neglected in certain sections and he missed big chunks of my hair. I was very disappointed to hear this as I really liked Mousey Brown. While my experience there was OK, I'm glad I followed my instinct and tried a new salon.
Pros: nice staff, fair prices, great hair cuts
Cons: uneven hair color

lacey is great! i saw a couple of reviews (below) detailing her expertise so i booked an appointment. not only does my hair look superb but the attitude i retardedly assumed would prevail at a salon like this was nowhere to be found. i couldn't be happier!
Pros: great cut, no attitude
Cons: none

I went to this salon around three weeks ago as it had really great reviews on Citysearch. I don't know whether i went on a bad day or i got a bad stylist but the cut was just awful. I asked for a fringe and for around three inches from my hair. To be fair, i didnt explain very well what i wanted but that was because the stylist took no time to discuss it with me and before i knew it my hair was chopped way too short. I do not mind this however, because it is hair, it grows, i am not bothered. What does bother me however, is the bad quality of the cut. Even my friends have noticed my hair is totally uneven, one side has nice layers in at the front and the other side is just cut totally blunt. It looks stupid. The final insult came when the stylist said, 'Oh you said you wanted a fringe well you are British, thats the wrong word for it.' ... what??? Surely, he should have taken time to discuss the cut with me if he thought I didnt understand what I was asking for? Unfortunatley, as an intern only here for a year, i have little money to correct the cut. So I am now the British girl with the lopsided hair until i go home! I would not reccomend this place at all.
Pros: Affordable
Cons: Rude

First of all...I'm phobic about haircuts/colors/processes. In my history, I've had enough bad experiences (perms, soccer-mom hair at 14, asymmetrical haircut when only 65-year-old new age women have them) to know what is not good. That said, Mousey Brown has totally impressed me every time I've gone. I was smitten with the place on my first visit when I had decided that I want to grow out my (natural and very premature) gray instead of dye it and not only did Andrew (my stylist) NOT try to convince me otherwise, but he and another stylist there consulted on how to do it best and both made me feel great about my decision by telling me in all sincerity that I could work it. I've been once more since then. Each time, not only was Andrew's work fantastic, but I had a great experience at the salon. I'm going back on Friday. Mousey Brown has almost cured me of my haircut phobia!
Pros: quality of work, service, price, ambience
Cons: don't schedule anything for a while after, because sometimes you may wait for a bit.

i usually don't write reviews either but i've had a tough time finding a place i liked; i called on a whim and lacey was able to take me; she consulted me about my hair and gave me exactly what a wanted--a cut that will allow my hair and bangs to grow out in a way that's still hip and stylish. she didn't take too much off and she gave me advice as to options i had re: growing my hair long...this is a simple, quiet, cute salon-- when i was there the staff outnumbered me! but don't be intimidated, and lacey is awesome. the cut was quick but the results were great.
Pros: fair prices, good cuts, local for wmsburg/greenpoint residents
Cons: almost too quiet in salon

I never write reviews but went to this salon today for the first time and loved it!! Lacey was excellent and walked me through what she felt was best for my hair and kept checking in with me to make sure she wasn't going to short. it was perfect and it looks adorable! even got some compliments on the way to the subway... I have crazy curly mixed hair and I am always afraid to try a new stylist because I have had so many traumatic haircuts but I will definately be going back for my next haircut!
Pros: nice staff! really skilled!
Cons: none that i can think of...

Part II I feel it necessary to respond to their condescending message to check your calendars. We did do that, and they screwed up. This is the kind of lame excuse and lack of professionalism you should expect from this rundown chop shop. AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS BECAUSE THEY DON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR SCREW-UPS. Part I (previous review to which they responded condescendingly) My girl booked an appointment, and they totally screwed it up and put it for the following week. When she went in there, they did not even squeeze her in or apologize. And she had been planning to get her hair done for a special occasion. Not worth the mismanagement and incompetence.
