I was interested in one of the online positings listed for this firm (it was even one with a fee!) and I contacted the representative the ad said had the listing. I was interested in this listing because a couple of months ago, the condo that was listed was for sale and my boyfriend LOVED it. We were not however, in love with the price. It would seem neither are other buyers as it has remained unsold up to this incident. When I saw it on Rapid Realty's website priced in a range I could afford, I jumped right on it. I called and had three separate conversations with D'Anthony whose cell phone came up Trevor on my caller ID. He confirmed the information. I agreed to see the condo with him. When I arrived at the condo PICTURED in the ad, I was told to go over two buildings. I was not happy. The ad I responded to was written for a "penthouse, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a washer/dryer, a patio and an elevator ". The fee was one month's rent. When I arrive I was surprised to find that my broker thought I was imbecilic enough to believe the second floor walkup with Washer/dryer hookup, one bathroom and no patio was the same unit. His answer? Well someone must have just copied and pasted another listing over by accident. So I said, Fine, where's the number for the broker that listed the one you copied? He called the office and said that it was an error. How do you mistakenly copy a listing that isn't yours and put it on your website? He didn't even offer to apologize which pretty much sealed the deal for me on the fact that he had every intention of trying to pawn me off on a completely different apartment. Sorry, not that dumb or desperate. For those of you that put up with that cr@p, shame on you! You make it harder for everyone -- to everyone else, try em if you want but leave yourself time to turn around and walk away. If we stop paying for this sort of treatment, Rapid Realty will have to change or go out of business; the law of economics.
Pros: Couldn't say
Cons: Inadequate job performance, blatant attempt to defraud

I have to agree with Tinkerbell82, in fact we probably dealt with the same broker. I found them to be unprofessional and lacking respect for your time. I contacted Aramis (broker) by phone/email with the same promises of getting a listing of apts to show. He never returned calls/messages and never came through with a list of apts. The worst was I had gone through the website and picked 3-4 units I wanted to see so all he had to do was get the keys I did all the work! I found him to be alot of talk and no work (that is if you could get him to return your calls). I actually complained to customer service about his unprofessional manner and was told it would be dealt with and they gave me another broker to work with on my search. So far nothing to report with the new broker. However, my expectations are very low so if this guy returns one phone call it will exceed my expectations! Apt hunting is stressful in NYC and unfortunately Rapid Realty adds to that stress! By the way brokers complain that don't want their time wasted with people not interested in renting because they get paid by comissions/fees. Well prospective clients/renters DON'T want their time wasted either!
Pros: Haven't come across any yet except they seem to have a large database of apts
Cons: Too many to list.....judge for yourself

I've spent the last four days trying to get in touch with Rapid Realty with no luck. I've emailed, left messages, and called. The two guys I managed to talk to both promised me that they would check their database and call me back. Neither did. It's extremely frustrating and very unprofessional.

DO NOT USE RAPID. My roommate and I are from out of state, so we thought the best option was to use an agency. The first day we went the brought us to only one place, and expected us to take it. They seemed annoyed when we requested to see at least one more option before making a decision.... Shockingly we actually found a good place after the second day of searching. It seemed too good to be true...... We immediately signed a lease, and put down thousands to secure this apt. We trusted this agency would do the rest. We were supposed to move in today, and although they had assured us everything was set to go, they lied. When we arrived at the location to move in there was also someone else there ready to move in as well. The landlord told us he had never heard from our agency, so he had no clue that they had promised it to us. We lost the apt, and now my roommate and I are staying at a friends. Everything we own is in a Uhaul out on the street, and we have no where to live. Rapid had absolutely no concern for us, in fact the agents gave us attitude when we got upset at the situation. As if WE were being ridiculous for getting upset. Last time I checked, being homeless was sort of a big deal. They completely dropped the ball on us, when they were trying to get us to sign and get money they were all about us, but as soon as the cash cleared we never heard from them again. Save yourself hassle dont use RAPID. They are useless. They caused more chaos then help. They constantly pass you around from agent to agent, and you can not get ahold of anyone. They obviously don't follow through and make sure you actually get the apts they've promised to you. Basically they are the worst, most uncaring company I have ever dealt with.
Pros: Absolutely nothing.
Cons: They mde me homeless, Paid $1600 in broker fees, Terrible customer service, No knowledge of how to conduct business, No concern for clients, Selfish, Shady

there are a ton of apts. on rapid realty's website, and i just went into the office with several i already wanted to see (wrote down the id #s), which made things move really quickly. i took the first place i looked at, and the girls i worked with as far as paperwork was concerned busted their butts, and got me approved for the place overnight... i signed leases and got keys yesterday, and have been cleaning my new place all day (also happen to get free wifi here for some reason, weeeeeeee!). truly satisfied with doing business with this company.

Unlike soursally down there, I actually had a really good experience with this company. I know what she means about the "yell-talking," which I have definitely run into with other brokers, but the gentleman I worked with - Calvin - was ridiculously nice, and the opposite of the stereotypical 'broker'. There were no high-pressure sales pitches, we just traveled around Brooklyn until I found an apartment I liked (I actually saw 2 I really liked, it was kind of a difficult decision), and then went into their office to put a deposit down. I've now been in my apartment for 2 weeks, and I have no complaints. I guess there will always be some people in every company that could potentially ruin the company's reputation in some people's eyes - I'm glad I did not experience this! I do think the "worse than used car salesmen" thing is harsh, though! They're not all like that! At least brokers... Used car salesmen, I'm not so sure about. :)

These are the worst crooks you'll find in Brooklyn. Not only would the "real estate brokers" (I use that term VERY loosely) not stop "yell-talking" at me, but they wouldn't get out of my way when I told them I didn't want the place. It was next to a land fill and there were cocroaches all over the floor. Worst people ever! Brokers, by rule are worse than used car salesmen, but these guys take the prize for no talent, barely educated, wastes of space...
Pros: non
Cons: everything

so i saw the last post and called rapid realty, to work with mark. you were right, he was awesome! i found a brand-spanking-new 2 bedroom in a pretty nice area, and i was treated like gold the whole time i worked with the company. two thumbs up!! actually, more like 6 thumbs, since it's me and my two roommates. we all liked our guy mark. and the rest of the company was cool too. from what we experienced, anyway.
Pros: no feeees (just a credit fee, i think it was $40?), nice broker
Cons: nothing really.

i liked working with rapid realty a lot (i think that, with a big company - especially a relatively young/youthful company - reviews tend to be mixed)... everybody that i encountered was totally nice, but there are always a couple that ruin it for everybody, hah. anyway, to the reviewer below me (sorry, should have looked at your name before i posted, it's too hot to think).... i actually worked with 2 'agents' - that's what they call them i guess - when i looked for places (i had no idea they both worked for the same office, and made appointments with them back to back, it was actually pretty funny). they were both incredibly sweet and personable, and didn't seem to give me the 'hard sell' (or maybe they were just that GOOD, hahah). their names were mark and sherita. i would definitely recommend either of them. the people who took care of the paperwork were super nice too (one guy and one girl), but unfortunately i'm at a loss for their names.
