Best chai, great biryani, 24 hour Pakistani heaven
by nhk2102
This place is great, unless of course you're one of the Jackson Heights gentrifiers who'd prefer a $24 plate of lamb in a sanitized and completely inauthentic environment. Kabab King is a neighborhood staple and a personal favorite. Their chai is to die for, and their food is heavenly, albeit on the greasy side. (They haven't bought into the health-food trend that's sure to kick in once the neighborhood is fully invaded by Astoria overflow. Then, I'm sure you can chomp down a tofu kabob and wash it down with a chai-tini.) Anyway, give Kabob King's lamb a shot - don't be chicken!
horrible experience

This place has the absolute worst service I have ever encountered. Their delivery people are surly, unhelpful, and cannot find street corners on the grid-like roads of midtown Manhattan. They are also repeatedly late and if you call them, you will most likely be put on hold for 20 minutes or more. They will also agree to your requests only to later refuse to acknowledge them. If you want any peace of mind, do NOT order food from this place.
Kabab King is a madhouse...
by stringy33
Kabab King is mobbed by people, both upstairs and down, and their current facilities seem unable to handle the crowd. On the other hand, the food is truly authentic Pakistani cuisine-- very well-prepared and tasty. It's a pity that the facilities are inadequate. Service is very spotty and unprofessional. The upstairs dining room could use a thorough cleanup, rearrangement, and reorganization. The ambience is that of a cafeteria rather than a dining hall.
- Pros: Food quality and diversity
- Cons: Poor facilities
my 3 am savior
by xgfd12
kabab king is the reason i moved to new york, encapsulated. (also one of the top reasons i live where i do a mere 5 minute walk from the joint!) when i'm up, for whatever reason, at 3 am and hungry ... i come here. i'm a vegetarian which makes 3 am food rather boring if i go anywhere else. i highly recommend their aloo gobi (curried cauliflower , potatoes and peas). the bhindi (okra) is chewy and wonderful. yet if you get there at 3 am and they're out of the aforementioned dishes, feel free to dig into the mixed vegetables. however do not under any circumstance forget the na'an. you'll need it to soak all the savory goodness up!
- Pros: cheap, yummy, fast, yummy
- Cons: they run out of stuff sometimes. but that happens when the foods that good!
One of the most popular South Asian street food joints in Jackson Heights packs in ferocious crowds, 24 hours a day.

The Scene
Trying to place your order at this bustling 24-hour street food joint can be like entering the holiday shopping fray. But don't be alarmed: The disorganized frenzy at this neighborhood fave is a long-standing tradition. You'll see crowds that reflect the diversity of the surrounding Jackson Heights neighborhood, with people cutting lines and barking out orders at the food counter staff. Cheap furniture and fluorescent lighting make for spartan decor; pull up a plastic chair and dive into the hungry chaos.
The Food
Kebab King is famous for its savory meats, and two favorites seem to disappear the quickest: chicken makhani, tender dark meat in a decadently rich, creamy, chili oil gravy, and the chicken tikka platter, a generous serving of juicy, smoke-charred chicken nestled into biryani rice with whole peppercorns. Sandwich your bites between torn pieces of fluffy, oven-baked naan bread; finish with fragrant homemade marsala chai and milky, pistachio-drizzled sweets.
Pakistani Food At It's Finest
by rainydaysofjune
Kabab King is the best in taste for South Asian food, not just Pakistani. What you order will determine your experience at Kabab King. Chicken Tikkas the norm at all restaurants, you must try Kabab King's specials Chicken Bihari and Beef Bihari Kababs. Don't forget the naan with them. The service and atmosphere may not set your mood but when you're done you will realize that it's only the food that counts! Take notes from here and you won't be disappointed!
- Pros: Chicken Bihari, Inexpensive, Mouth-watering
- Cons: , due to location, and popularity
Pakistani Food at its best!
by ameena
Jackson Heights, Queens, really is like a bazaar in South Asia - the smells, the sounds, the FOOD! And to that end, there is nothing quite like Kebab King Palace (same owner as Kebabk King diner). The food is authentic and VERY spicy but GOOD. The chicken tikkas are a must. While I can't say much for ambience (it's quite shabby and you get plastic tableware) that sort of adds to the whole 'mood'. Best of all, its CHEAP. Service depends on the server. I personally like the take out. Its also fun to watch the peole in the back make the tikkas and the naans. The owners are very hospitable and its great when they're around to serve you. Jackson Diner down the street may look nicer but Kabab King Palace is where its at!
- Pros: Cheap, Yummy, Authentic
- Cons: A little too, autentic for some,, perhaps?
