great neighborhood restaurant

When I first tried Happy Kitchen, I was a little skeptical. But I have to say it is now one of my favorite little haunts in Jackson Heights (where I also live) The staff are very friendly and I find the food to be consistently very good. I have never gotten sick here! I'm wondering if cotillojones is mistaking the owner's cultural reservedness as 'arrogant indifference'; I find him very courteous--just reserved. I very much recommend Happy Kitchen!

Wish I could recommend it...

I really wanted to like Happy Kitchen. I love Japanese food, and was happy to find this small place in Jackson Heights. The first time I went, I ignored the arrogant indifference of the man who was working behind the counter. The food was just okay. The second time, I kind of wondered how he could maintain a business in this great neighborhood with such disdain for the customers. The food was again, just okay. The third time (I really wanted to give this place a chance because I was desperate for some local Japanese food), my partner and I got sick from the food, and the guy there still had the attitude. Third time's the charm--I won't be going back. I guess I can stand the attitude, but I really don't like throwing up.

• Pros: It's Japanese food. It is sushi.
• Cons: It might make you sick.
