A HAS BEEN

by Foodie82

This place was good many years back. I since visited using a restaurant com coupon. While the hostess/manager was nice, it ended there. The service is inattentive and inexperienced. I asked about the shell steak, and server said it was a lean cut. That was not true, it was the fattiest thing I have ever eaten. The appetizer of clams was lukewarm and not flavorful. It took forever for food to come out. Veggies are bland. Also, they forgot to bring bread and they do not have ample bus boys going around to clear off tables after you are done with a course, nor refill your water. Noisy place. If this place were up for sale, I would buy it and turn it around ...

Austin ale house - try not

by asian g

i went to this restaurant for dinner, and it was so disgusting. We had the prefix for thanksgiving. we got there early for the 5 course special meal. first course there was 3 choices for the appetizer, but they didn't have any of the 3 of them, so they " had some substitute that was terrible. 2nd course soup which was fine...3rd course we asked for no cheese for salad, they just picked it out , so there was still some cheese on the salad and plate...if u are lactose intolerant, u will have an unhappy stomache 4) entree - seafood pasta,,absolutely horrendous, the sauce wasn't right, and the seafood wasnt cleaned properly or the garnishes, my mouth was filled with sand..5) dessert, can you believe, there was 3 choices - they only had one left...no more pumkin pie, isn't this a thanksgiving dinner?. we asked for it to go, when they brought us the pie, the waitress said, "the thing this is with these pie, we had to get this from the freezer, so when u go home, u have to microwave them." So basically we paid $200 for 5 people to microwave our own pie/dessert....... they can't heat it up for us, so when we go home, we can enjoy our dessert???? shouldnt the pie be freshly baked, not frozen????? we will never go to this restaurant ever...! we will not go there for lunch or dinner after this horrible experience. if u are a foodie, and u enjoy food that has quality and cleaniness or good service, this is not the place to go......my 50 cents..please try at ur own risk

THE WORST

by MsSlyck

I went to this restaurant with a friend yesterday, A very big mistake. The hostess was a delight upon walking in the door, very friendly and up beat. I was sure to have a good experience. Wrong.

We started off with 2 drinks French martini----- Which tasted like Nyquil the bartender tried to fix it to no avail. (mind you the waitress looks annoyed that we don't like the drinks) So I had the Long Island Ice tea and my friend a Heineken... (can't go wrong with the bottle)

We ordered the Cajun shrimp (YUK) just bland with cajun spice. The side salad was Great! It was the only thing I was HAPPY ABOUT!

Dinner consisted of Salmon (BLAND) The Prime Rib ordered Medium well came to the table WELL DONE and very DRY and wait also BLAND!!

Does this establishment use seasoning?

I will NOT go back to this place, EVER!!

The Hostess was great, the drinks, Service and FOOD, Not GOOD AT ALL!!!!

Good steak but go just for the beer.

by azteczulu

Amazing beer selection. If you love beer this is a must go. The restaurant is located in a hidden quite area of Queens but parking can get tricky. Food is great also. Right next to Kew Garden stop of LIRR.

  • Pros: Beer and steak.
  • Cons: Parking

GREAT WINGS!

by sencionl

I never had anything else on the menu but on Tues and Sundays they sell their buffalo wings which are out of this world. I'm a wing feen soo I like to shop around for my taste buds. Been here many times, the sauce is spicy yet tangy it's yumy! def recommend it to all wing lovers!

On Tues and Sund wings are 20 cents, I heard it's this price if you sit at the bar but I never do I alwas get a table with friends and we pig out... still comes out very cheap including drinks.

  • Pros: Buffalo Wings!
  • Cons: parking!

Great Porterhouse Steak

by larryl2

Went there on a Sunday night last week and had a great meal. Got the French Onion, Little necks, a Porterhouse, and Hot Brownie dessert. They were all great. I miss having a meal where everything is yummy and satisfying. Even their beer selection is good. I had the Brooklyn Lager. Would definitely go back!

  • Pros: Food, Price
  • Cons: Outdated styling, more like a saloon than steakhouse

Still bad

by dcat

I gave this place another shot. I felt like I was in an OTB. The food was overpriced and average. What a dump. Real shame. I can only hope they go out of business and become something else (please!).

  • Pros: Couldn't find one
  • Cons: Expensive, Betting at the tables, Bad service

Change isn't always good

by Dcatlin

What used to be a great local place to meet and have a good meal, has now become another cookie cutter, cheap looking dive. The owners renovated and removed the charm of the place. It seems that the quality of food has gone down too, as a cost cutting measure. I've been twice since the changes were made, but I think I'm done wasting my time.

Good food, good times

by panoramix

As you are seated the server will light a candle to give you a nice candlelit experience.

You'll enjoy the food served at this unique dining location. I recomend that everyone start with the maryland crabcakes. Enjoy a nicely prepared salad and indulge in one of the many imported beers on their list. If you've never had a belgian beer before, you must try it at Austin's Ale House. They've recently renovated the dining area. It is separate from the bar now. They waitstaff has been upgraded, the decor is very family oriented. The prices are decent for this type of food and dining experience.

  • Pros: Outside Terrace, Good Menu
  • Cons: Loud
