Whiskey Tavern
Whiskey Tavern
In New York, brand-new bars and clubs open almost as often as old ones reopen under new names. But not every new spot is hot. From the toughest doors in Chelsea to that promising neighborhood pub in Williamsburg, if it's new and it's notable, you can find it here.

First Round: Bar Openings

Look here for spanking-new places for drinking and dancing in New York.

79 Baxter St, New York, NY
In an after-dark dead zone, a raucous pub's suds and spirits soothe office workers, students and folks stuck on jury duty.

Musicologists rejoice, as this Noho performance venue and art space brings the renaissance of revelry to the 'hood.

  3. Macondo

157 E Houston St, New York, NY

    210 Smith St, Brooklyn, NY
With a polite nod to '20s-era drinking, this upscale cocktail den may keep Carroll Gardens' flappers and dandies from crossing the bridge.

  6. Inc Lounge

    224 W 49th St, 2nd Fl, New York, NY
An upscale cocktail lounge and party spot nestled inside a midtown hotel.

  7. Santos' Party House

Co-owner Andrew W.K.'s long-delayed downtown club delivers the goods with affordable drinks, A-list DJs, a sick sound system and an elusive cabaret license.

  8. The Randolph at Broome

349 Broome Street, New York, NY
Covert Nolita lounge boasts two floors, two bars, designer cocktails and the unique ability to make ragtime music cool again.

  9. Highbar

    251 W 48th St, New York, NY
A modern and comfortable outdoor oasis where the view is of buildings, not beaches.

  10. SideBar

From the people behind the Village Pourhouse, an airy sports bar and grill with an upscale bent.

  5. Social

795 8th Ave, New York, NY
Spend a lazy Sunday at the bar, where "specials" like $7 sliders and 75-cent wings (that's per wing) are a lot less enchanting than the $3.50 bottles of Bud Light and Coors Light.

  6. Hellgate Social

    1221 Astoria Blvd, Astoria, NY
Recession Mondays offer a sandwich and a bottled beer for $7. Beers are also just $3 each, and both specials last throughout the night.
